cut or clip round about, οἴνας περιταμνέμεν prune them, Hes. Op. 570; [ τὴν κεφαλὴν] π. κύκλῳ περὶ τὰ ὦτα Hdt. 4.64; of a goldsmith, CPR 22.6 (ii A. D.): Med., βραχίονας περιτάμνονται make incisions all over their arms, Hdt. 4.71: Pass., to be cut up, of fish, Arist. Mir. 835a19 .

2. of circumcision, τῶν ἐπιγινομένων οὐ περιτάμνουσι τὰ αἰδοῖα Hdt. 2.104, cf. D.C. 79.11; π. τοὺς παῖδας D.S. 1.28, cf. LXX John 5:2, al., PCair.Zen. 76.13 (iii B.
