II δ. τινί τι talk over a thing with another, E. Cyc. 175: — Pass., to be much talked of, Luke 1:65.
διαλαλέω: imperfect διελάλουν; imperfect passive διελαλουμην; to converse together, to talk with, (διά denoting by turns, or one with another; see διακατελέγχομαι), τί, passive (were talked of), Luke 1:65; πρός ἀλλήλους (as Polybius 23, 9, 6), τί ἄν ποιήσειαν (ποιήσαιεν, others), of the conference of men deliberating, Luke 6:11. (Euripides, Cycl. 175.)

The corresponding subst. may be illustrated from the late P Lond 77 (viii/A.D.) (= I. p. 231 ff.), the last will and testament of Abraham, bishop of Hermonthis. The document is written in Greek, of which language the testator, though a bishop, is ignorant, but he declares his accord with its contents —.69 ἑρμηνευθέντα μοι διὰ τῆς Αἰγυπτιακῆς διαλαλείας, ";which have been interpreted to me in the Egyptian tongue."; The verb survives in MGr = ";announce.";
