ἐὰν δέ τις λάβῃ γυναῖκα προσφάτως, οὐκ ἐξελεύσεται εἰς τὸν πόλεμον, καὶ οὐκ ἐπιβληθήσεται αὐτῷ οὐδὲν πρᾶγμα· ἀθῷος ἔσται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἐνιαυτὸν ἕνα, εὐφρανεῖ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ, ἣν ἔλαβεν.
Berean Study Bible
If a man is newly married ..., he must not be sent to war or be pressed into any duty. For one year he is free to stay at home and bring joy - to the wife - he has married.
English Standard Version
When a man is newly married he shall not go out with the army or be liable for any other public duty He shall be free at home one year to be happy with his wife whom he has taken
Holman Christian Standard Version
"When a man takes a bride, he must not go out with the army or be liable for any duty. He is free to stay at home for one year, so that he can bring joy to the wife he has married.
King James Version
When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken (8804).
