you are to appoint over yourselves the king whom the LORD your God shall choose. Appoint a king from among your brothers; ... you are not ... to set ... over yourselves a foreigner ... who is not one of your brothers.

you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you You may not put a foreigner over you who is not your brother

you are to appoint over you the king the Lord your God chooses. Appoint a king from your brothers. You are not to set a foreigner over you, or one who is not of your people.

indeed, you may set a king over you whom Yahweh your God will choose, from the midst of your countrymen you must set a king over you; you are not allowed to appoint over you a man, a foreigner, who is not your countryman.
