Zaphnath-Paaneah, an Egyptian name given by Pharaoh to Joseph in reference to his public office. Rosellini interprets it to mean 'the salvation' or 'savior of the age.' But Gesenius and others incline rather to regard it as signifying 'sustainer of the age.'
