Reigned from February 19, to November 12, 607. Probably born in Rome, c.550;died there. He was sent as legate to Constantinople by Pope Gregory the Great. As pope he obtained from Emperor Phocas a confirmation that Rome was the head of all churches, and its bishop was "Universal Bishop."
