Reigned from 608 to 615. Born in the province of Valeria, Italy, c.550;died in Rome, Italy. Few particulars are known of his pontificate, which is marked by the expansion of the Church in England. Mellitus, first Bishop of London, visited him in 610, and returned to England with decrees relative to the newly-established Church there.
