(koh' hath) Personal name of unknown meaning. The second son of Levi (Genesis 46:11
) and father of Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel (Exodus 6:18
) who became the heads of the Kohathite branch of the Levitical priesthood. Kohath went to Egypt with Levi (his father) and Jacob (his grandfather) (Genesis 46:11
), had a sister named Jochebed (Exodus 6:20
), and died at the age of 133 (Exodus 6:18
