(ee' than) Personal name meaning, “long-lived.” 1. A man so famous for his wisdom that Solomon's outstanding wisdom could be described as exceeding Ethan's (1 Kings 4:31 ). Ezrahite may indicate Ethan was at home in Canaan before Israel entered, though this is uncertain. See Ezralite. A list similar to 1 Kings 4:31 appears among the descendants of Judah in 1Chronicles 2:6, 1 Chronicles 2:8 . 2 . A Levite and Temple singer (1Chronicles 6:42,1 Chronicles 6:44; 1 Chronicles 15:17 ) and instrumentalist (1 Chronicles 15:19 ). He is associated with Psalm 88:1 and Psalm 89:1 in their titles.
