Bowels

Additional Links
Translation used in modern versions to refer to intestines and other entrails (Acts 1:18 ). In the KJV, “bowels” is also used to refer to the sexual reproductive system (2 Samuel 16:11; Psalm 71:6 ) and, figuratively, to strong emotions (Job 30:27 ), especially love (Song of Song of Solomon 5:4 ) and compassion (Colossians 3:12 ). Both Hebrew and Greek picture the entrails as the center of human emotions and excitement.
