Are often put by the Hebrew writers for the internal parts generally, the inner man, just as we often use the word heart. Hence the bowels are often represented as the seat of mercy, tenderness, compassion, etc., 1 Kings 3:26 Isaiah 63:15 Jeremiah 31:20 Colossians 3:12 1 John 3:17 .
