Verses 1-12

  1. Intro:
    1. Prayer: (Poem) “I do not ask my cross to understand, My way to see – Better in darkness just to feel Your hand, And follow thee.”
    2. More blessings in store for Israel under Christ’s rule in the millennial kingdom. (We’ll take & apply them to ourselves again as spiritual Israel)
    3. Turn to Ps.139:17,18 for our introduction:
      1. Listen tonight for simply His thoughts toward you saints!
        1. It won’t be any more complicated than that.
      2. Precious – weighty, valuable.
        1. His thoughts toward us are unique, tailor-made, 1-of-a-kind, & that makes them valuable!!!
      3. Not just mere “thoughts” but includes His purpose & care.
        1. The God of the galaxies is the God who is concerned about the color of a baby’s hair. (www)
  2. HIS THOUGHTS TOWARDS ME! (1-12)
    1. ​​​​​​​BEULAH! (1-5)
    2. (1) Gods promises should be our prayers! (www)
      1. He declares His desires; He avows His determination; He asserts His convictions…“He will not hold his peace(or keep silent), He will not rest, until the people of God fulfill His ideal!”
      2. There is no uncertainty in His heart!
    3. Q: What’s God after? Her righteousness, her salvation.
      1. Q: How will that come? – When Israel receives the Lord’s rt.
    4. (2) All the Nations will see it.
    5. (3) Q: A crown in the hand?
      1. A presentation for others to see He is King.
      2. A way to show off those that are His!
      3. Crown = a sign of royal dignity! (& that’s us! ☺)
      4. Prov.12:4 “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband,”
      5. Maybe this is what Paul was eluding to when he said, “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy.” 1 Thes.2:19,20
      6. Zechariah proclaims, “The Lord their God will save them in that day, As the flock of His people. For they shall be like the jewels of a crown, Lifted like a banner over His land” Zech.9:16
    6. (4) Remember the people were divorced from God because of their unfaithfulness. And He was not delighted in them.
      1. But that will change when God cleanses their sins.
    7. Azubah – forsaken [you]
    8. Shemamah – desolate [your land]
    9. Hephzibah – “my delight is in her”(my desire is towards her/my very dearest one) [you]
      1. This was the name of Hezekiah, & mother of king Manasseh.
    10. Beulah – “married”(favored/blessed) [your land]
      1. When Jesus pleads for you, you can’t be desolate or forsaken!
      2. “God loves, though all hate; God delights, though all abhor; God remains, though all forsake!” (F.B.Meyer)
      3. Q: Where is your Beulah land?
        1. Quote Springs in the Desert; Oct.26th
      4. Picture God all alone to yourself; & Him having you all alone to Himself!
        1. You can experience that in your Beulah land!
    11. (5) Here is God rejoicing over His restored wife.
      1. Hos.2:16 “And it shall be, in that day,” Says the LORD, “That you will call Me, (Ishi)‘My Husband,’ & no longer call Me (Baali)‘My Master”
      2. Zeph.3:17 “The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
    12. What a great marriage we have here!
      1. Even God’s marriage started out rocky!
      2. It even went to divorce!
      3. It went from lonely desperation, to happy marriage!
      4. This is actually beautiful imagery of the wedding & honeymoon!
    13. ​​​​​​​REMEMBRANCERS! (6-9)
    14. (6,7) The unresting Lord calls on us not to rest.
      1. Yes, we rest in salvation/sin/sorrow, but not in prayer! (“watch w/me”)
      2. The watchman often depicts that person “watching” in prayer!
        1. Watching for invaders; if so sounding the alarm for the safety of others. - He would never sleep on his watch.
        2. Q: Would God consider you one of His spiritual watchmen?
      3. Note verse 1 where God was their example of determination.
      4. We are to be “remembrancers!” (bring Him into remembrance)
      5. (7) We actually can “name it & claim it(if we define the it as “His will”)
        1. ​​​​​​​It is biblical to pray for things God has commanded He will do.
      6. We sing, “I will not be silent anymore!”
    15. When there is peace in Jerusalem, there will be peace in the world.
      1. Interesting: With Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in the hospital crime in Jerusalem has been cut in ½. [so, temp peace!]
    16. If we are the new city Jerusalem…then are we being “the object of praise” to all those around us?
    17. (8,9) To the prophets mind the prayer is already answered as soon as spoken.
    18. SALVATION! (10-12)
    19. (10) Make ready the way, for the King is coming to Zion!
      1. Already the highway must be prepared for the return of the exiles.
      2. Make ready to trail your Deliverer!
    20. The Nations will see His Banner/flag flying showing He has returned!
    21. (11) His reward is with Him –
      1. Rev.22:12 “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.”
    22. (12) 4 Names: (see 2b)
      1. Fire Chief Phil Armentrout Memorial: His 2 daughters & son put together a DVD presentation. They each had pet names, special from their dad! (names picked uniquely for each of them)
      2. The Holy People –
      3. The Redeemed –
      4. Sought Out –
      5. A City Not Forsaken(deserted) –
    23. Q: Which do you most relate to, or look forward to tonight?
      1. I like that we will be Sought Out by Him!
      2. We were mingled with the mire(mud)of the world.
        1. He stooped low & dug us out of the muck & mire!
        2. It’s like digging for a gold ring that dropped down the sewer.
        3. Or, the item the toddler dropped into the toilet…roll up sleeve!
        4. Story – Eli & the Diamond (my cockatiel ate a diamond out of my ring – I had to check its “stool” for the next week - Sought Out!!!)
          1. It was searching until the treasure was found.
      3. Praise God for His unconquerable Grace! – No filth could conceal us! - We were found & brought home!
    24. Usually we see in Scripture man carefully seeking God, but here it is the Lord himself, seeking, finding, & gathering his wonderful people!
      1. Rejoice!…Tonight we wear the name “Sought Out”!
    25. The godless system of philosophy, rob many of this wonderful comfort!
