chief fathers = heads.

sons. A special various reading called Sevir ( App-34 ), with Syriac, reads "son", as in Numbers 36:12 .

children = sons.

my lord = Moses, to whom the commandment was given. Numbers 26:52 , Numbers 26:53 , &c.; Numbers 27:6 , Numbers 27:7 .

word. Hebrew mouth. Put by Figure of speech Metonymy (of Cause), App-6 , for what is spoken by it.

keep himself = cleave.

man. Hebrew. 'ish. App-14 .

These. This verse forms the closing Epilogue to the whole book of Numbers.
