Verse 1
kindness = grace, favour, or lovingkindness.
Verse 3
any = a man. Hebrew. 'ish. App-14 .

Behold. Figure of speech Asterismos. App-6 .
Lo-debar = no pasture. Where the sinner is until found by God ' s free grace.
Verse 5
sent, and fetched . This is the action of grace towards the "lost" sinner. Compare Luke 15:4 , Luke 15:5
Verse 6
Mephibosheth . Born in 965 (2 Samuel 4:4 ). Now seventeen, and father of a young son (2 Samuel 9:12 ).
Verse 7
thy father's sake . So with God's grace to us; not for the sake of the lost one.
Saul thy father = Saul thy grandfather.
Verse 8
What . . . ? Figure of speech Erotesis. App-6 .
a dead dog . Self-abasement is ever the result of grace shown.
I am. So the sinner is concerned about what he is, rather than what he has done. Compare Isaiah 6:5 .Luke 5:8 .
Verse 12
Mephibosheth . Note the Figure of speech Epanadiplosis ( App-6 ) in this verse: being repeated at the beginning of the next verse.
