Abowiem oczy Pańskie przepatrują wszytkę ziemię, aby się okazał być możnym u tych, którzy przy nim z prawem sercem zostawają. Głupieś w tym sobie począł, a przetoż potym przyjdą na cię walki.
Albowiem oczy Pańskie przepatrują wszystkę ziemię, aby dokazywał mocy swej przy tych, którzy przy nim stoją sercem doskonałem. Głupioś to uczynił: przetoż od tego czasu powstaną przeciwko tobie wojny.
PAN bowiem przegląda całą ziemię, by wzmacniać tych, którzy trwają przy Nim całym sercem. Postąpiłeś niemądrze w tej sprawie i od teraz będziesz miał ciągłe wojny!
Bowiem oczy WIEKUISTEGO przepatrują całą ziemię, aby wzmacniać tak długo, jak są z Nim doskonałym sercem. Głupio to uczyniłeś; dlatego od tego czasu powstaną przeciwko tobie wojny.
Oczy PANA przebiegają bowiem całą ziemię, aby pokazywał on swoją moc dla tych, których serce jest doskonałe wobec niego. Głupio postąpiłeś; z tego powodu odtąd będziesz miał wojny.
Gdyż Pan wodzi oczyma swymi po całej ziemi, aby wzmacniać tych, którzy szczerym sercem są przy nim; lecz w tym postąpiłeś głupio, toteż odtąd będziesz miał ciągłe wojny.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth,.... The eyes of his omniscience are everywhere, and the eyes of his mercy and goodness, of his care and providence, are here and there, and in every place throughout the whole world at once, see Zechariah 4:10,
to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards him; or, as in the margin, "strongly to hold" with such, to be on their side, take their part, strengthen them, support and supply them, and to protect and defend them who are sincere and upright in heart; whose graces are sincere and unfeigned, though not complete, nor they free from sin, and who, with the heart, sincerely believe in God, in which Asa at this time failed, though otherwise his heart is said to be perfect, 1 Kings 15:4, it was so in the general bent of it, and especially with respect to the worship of God, though there was something lacking in his faith at this time, as there often is in the best of men:
herein thou hast done foolishly; to trust in man, and not in the Lord, to part with his money, and lose the opportunity of having the whole Syrian army fall into his hands:
therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars; which, though we read not of, was doubtless his case; some interpret it of his posterity.

The rebuke of Hanani and his imprisonment by Asa, omitted by the writer of Kings, are among the most important of the additions to Asaâs history for which we are indebted to the author of Chronicles.
2 Chronicles 16:7
Escaped out of thine hand - Hanani means, âHadst thou been faithful, and opposed in arms the joint host of Israel and Syria, instead of bribing the Syrian king to desert to thy side, the entire host would have been delivered into thy hand, as was Zerahâs. But now it is escaped from thee. Thou hast lost a glorious opportunity.â
2 Chronicles 16:9
From henceforth thou shalt have wars - As peace had been the reward of Asaâs earlier faith 2Ch 14:5; 2 Chronicles 15:5, so his want of faith was now to be punished by a period of war and disturbance.

In a prison house - Or, âin the stocks.â Compare 1 Kings 22:26-27.

Verse 2 Chronicles 16:9. Therefore - thou shalt have wars. — And so he had with Israel during the rest of his reign, 1 Kings 15:32.
