Gill's Notes on the Bible
And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered,.... It became exceeding bright and glorious, it shone like the sun,
Matthew 17:2 and hereby his prayer was answered; and thus, as Christ was heard and answered, whilst he was yet speaking, so are his people sometimes; and even their countenance is altered, when they are favoured with communion with God, and instead of a sad and dejected countenance, they have a cheerful one.
And his raiment was white and glistering; it was as white as the light, as snow, and whiter than any fuller on earth could whiten, as the other evangelists say, and so glistened exceedingly;

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
See an account of the transfiguration in Matthew 17:1-13, and Mark 9:2-13.
Luke 9:29
The fashion - The âappearance.â
Glistering - Shining like lightning - of a bright, dazzling whiteness. As Mark says, âmore white than any fuller could make it.â
Luke 9:31
In glory - Of a glorious appearance. Of an appearance like that which the saints have in heaven.
His decease - literally, his âexitâ or âdeparture.â The word translated here âdeceaseâ - that is, exit, or âgoing outâ - is elsewhere used to denote death. See 2 Peter 1:15. Death is a departure or going out from this life. In âthisâ word there may be an allusion to the âdepartureâ of the children of Israel from Egypt. As that was going out from âbondage,â pain, and humiliation, so death, to a saint, is but going forth from a land of captivity and thraldom to one of plenty and freedom; to the land of promise, the Canaan in the skies.
He should accomplish - Which was about to take place.
Luke 9:32
Heavy with sleep - Borne down with sleep - oppressed, overcome with sleep. It may seem remarkable that they should fall asleep on such an occasion; but we are to bear in mind that this may have been in the night, and that they were weary with the toils of the day. Besides, they did not âfall asleepâ while the transfiguration lasted. While Jesus was praying, or perhaps after he closed, they fell asleep. âWhileâ they were sleeping his countenance was changed, and Moses and Elias appeared. The first that âtheyâ saw of it was after they awoke, having been probably awakened by the shining of the light around them.
Luke 9:36
Jesus was found alone - That is, the two men had left him. In respect to âthemâ he was alone.
