Sciebas tunc quod nasciturus esses, et numerum dierum tuorum noveras ?

ut non delinquam in lingua mea.
Posui ori meo custodiam,
cum consisteret peccator adversum me.
Obmutui, et humiliatus sum, et silui a bonis;
et dolor meus renovatus est.
Concaluit cor meum intra me;
et in meditatione mea exardescet ignis.
Locutus sum in lingua mea:
Notum fac mihi, Domine, finem meum,
et numerum dierum meorum quis est,
ut sciam quid desit mihi.
Ecce mensurabiles posuisti dies meos,
et substantia mea tamquam nihilum ante te.
Verumtamen universa vanitas, omnis homo vivens.
Verumtamen in imagine pertransit homo;
sed et frustra conturbatur:
thesaurizat, et ignorat cui congregabit ea.
Et nunc qu est exspectatio mea: nonne Dominus?
et substantia mea apud te est.
Ab omnibus iniquitatibus meis erue me:
opprobrium insipienti dedisti me.
Obmutui, et non aperui os meum,
quoniam tu fecisti;
amove a me plagas tuas.
A fortitudine manus tu ego defeci in increpationibus:
propter iniquitatem corripuisti hominem.
Et tabescere fecisti sicut araneam animam ejus:
verumtamen vane conturbatur omnis homo.
Exaudi orationem meam, Domine, et deprecationem meam;
auribus percipe lacrimas meas.
Ne sileas, quoniam advena ego sum apud te,
et peregrinus sicut omnes patres mei.
Remitte mihi, ut refrigerer
priusquam abeam et amplius non ero.]

Gill's Notes on the Bible

Forsake me not, O Lord,.... Or continue not to forsake; for he seems to have been under divine desertion, and might be under apprehensions that God had utterly forsaken him; which he entreats he would not, though his friends had forsook him, and his own strength had failed and left him, Psalms 38:10;

O my God, be not far from me; as to his gracious presence, and with respect to help and deliverance, otherwise God is not far from any of his creatures, being omnipresent.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

Forsake me not, O Lord - That is, Do not leave me in my troubles, my sickness, my sorrow. Leave me not to die; leave me not to complain and dishonor thee; leave me not to the reproaches of my enemies.

O my God, be not far from me - See Psalms 35:22. Compare Psalms 10:1; Psalms 13:1.

Clarke's Notes on the Bible

Verse Psalms 38:21. Forsake me not, O Lord — Though all have forsaken me, do not thou.

Be not far from me — Though my friends keep aloof, be thou near to help me.
