¹ La parola che il profeta Geremia rivolse a Baruk, figlio di Neriah, quando questi scrisse queste parole in un libro sotto dettatura di Geremia, nellanno quarto di Jehoiakim figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, dicendo:² "Cos dice lEterno, il DIO dIsraele, a te, o Baruk:³ Tu dici: Guai a me, perch lEterno aggiunge afflizione al mio dolore, io sono stanco di gemere e non trovo riposo⁴ Cos dirai a lui: Cos dice lEterno: Ecco io demolir ci che ho edificato e sradicher ci che ho piantato, e questo in tutto il paese.⁵ 5 And should you [fn] seek great things for yourself? Seek them not; for behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, says the Lord, but your life I will give to you [as your only booty and] as a [snatched] prize of war wherever you go.
