³⁸ If there be many white spottes in the skinne of the fleshe of man or woman, ³⁹ The priest shall loke vpon it: and yf the spottes in the skynne of their fleshe be somewhat darke and whyte withal, it is a frekell growyng in the skynne: therfore he is cleane. ⁴⁰ And the man whose heere is fallen of his head, he is baulde, yet cleane. ⁴¹ And he that hath his heere fallen of on the part of his head towarde his face, is forehead baulde, yet cleane. ⁴² If there be in ye baulde head or baulde forehead a whyte reddishe sore, there is leprosie sprong vp in his baulde head or baulde forehead. ⁴³ And the priest shall loke vpon hym: & yf the rysyng of the sore be whyte reddishe in his baulde head or baulde forehead, after the maner of leprosie which is in the skynne of the fleshe, ⁴⁴ Then he is a leprous man & vncleane: And the priest shal make him vncleane, for the plague therof is in his head. ⁴⁵ The leper in whom the plague is, shal haue his clothes rent, & his head bare, & shall put a coueryng vpon his lippes, and shall crye: vncleane, vncleane. ⁴⁶ And as long as the disease lasteth vpon hym, he shalbe defiled and vncleane: he shall dwell alone, euen without the campe shall his habitation be.

Gill's Notes on the Bible

And the man whose hair is fallen off his head,.... That is, from the back part of his head, from the crown of his head toward his neck behind:

he [is] bald; in that spot of the head where the hair is fallen off; and it denotes such a baldness as is occasioned by that, for it signifies one that had hair, but it is fallen off; whereas the baldness after spoken of is thought by some to be of such who never had any hair; though others will have it, that this intends a person bald all over; but it seems plain from what follows, that it designs one whose hair was fallen off behind, and was bald on that part only; and it may be observed, that this is only said of a man, not of a woman, because, as Aben Ezra remarks, she has much moisture in her, and therefore her head does not become bald; hair being like to grass, which flourishes in moist places:

[yet is] he clean; from the leprosy, or from the scalls, as Jarchi observes, because he is not judged by the signs of the head and beard, which are the place of hair, but by the signs of leprosy in the skin of the flesh, i.e. by the raw flesh and spreading.
