Psalms 2

1 Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Yahweh, and against his anointed, [saying],3 Let us break apart their bonds, And cast away from us their cords.4 He that sits in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, And in his intense displeasure, he will vex them:6 Yet I have set my king On Zion my holy hill.

7 I will tell of the decree: Yahweh said to me, You are my son; This day I have begotten you.8 Ask of me, and I will give [you] the nations for your inheritance; And for your possession, the uttermost parts of the earth.9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; Like a potter's vessel, you shall dash them in pieces.

10 Now therefore you kings, be wise; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.11 Serve Yahweh with fear, And rejoice with trembling.12 Embrace purity, or else he will be angry, and you will perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those that take refuge in him.
