Matthew 1

1 The Book of the Generation of Jesus Christ, Son of David, Son of Abraham.2 Abraham begot Isaac; and Isaac begot Jacob; and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers;3 and Judah begot Perez and Zerah from Tamar; and Perez begot Hezron; and Hezron begot Ram;4 and Ram begot Amminadab; and Amminadab begot Nahshon; and Nahshon begot Salmon;5 and Salmon begot Boaz from Rahab; and Boaz begot Obed from Ruth; and Obed begot Jesse;6 and Jesse begot David the king. And David begot Solomon from her who was Uriah's;7 and Solomon begot Rehoboam; and Rehoboam begot Abijah; and Abijah begot Asaph;8 and Asaph begot Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat begot Joram; and Joram begot Uzziah;9 and Uzziah begot Jotham; and Jotham begot Ahaz; and Ahaz begot Hezekiah;10 and Hezekiah begot Manasseh; and Manasseh begot Amos; and Amos begot Josiah;11 And Josiah begot Jehoiachin and his brothers at the Babylonian Exile.12 And after the Babylonian Exile, Jehoiachin begot Shealtiel; and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel;13 and Zerubbabel begot Abiud; and Abiud begot Eliakim; and Eliakim begot Azor;14 and Azor begot Zadok; and Zadok begot Achim; and Achim begot Eliud;15 and Eliud begot Eleazar; and Eleazar begot Matthan; and Matthan begot Jacob;16 and Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary; from her was born Jesus, the one called Christ.17 So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the Babylonian Exile were fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian Exile to the Christ were fourteen generations.

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened like this: His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they were married, she was found to be pregnant from the Holy Spirit.19 But Joseph her husband, being righteous and not wanting to publicly expose her, decided to divorce her privately.20 But when he was thinking about these things, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, don't be afraid to take your wife Mary, because what has been born in her is from the Holy Spirit.21 And she will give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."22 Now all this happened so that which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled,23 Look, the virgin will be pregnant and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Immanuel, which translated means, "God with us".24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife.25 And he didn't have sex with her until she gave birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
