Simplified Cowboy Version
Revelation 22
1 Then the angel pointed out to me the creek of life, shining like a diamond coming from the throne of God and the Lamb.
2 It flowed down the middle of the street. On each side of the street grew a tree of life that makes fruit twelve times a year. Its leaves will heal the nations.3 No curse shall be found on anything. This is where the throne of God, the Lamb, and their cowboys are. The cowboys will worship them for all time there.
4 They will be able to look upon the face of God and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 Since there is no night, there is no need for lamps or the sun. God's glory will light everything. God and his Lamb will rule forever and ever.6 Then the angel said to me, "Nothing you've seen will not happen. It's all true. The Lord God, who spoke to the prophets, has sent me to tell his cowboys what will happen in no time."
Jesus Is Riding Back
7 "Listen up!" Jesus said. "I am riding back soon. There won't be a single cowboy who will regret riding for my brand. They will never despair for obeying the words of this book."
8 I, John, heard and saw all these things. When it was all over, I fell down at the feet of the angel who had been talking to me.
9 He said, "Don't bow down to me. I'm just one of God's hands like you are. We obey God and do what he says to do—the way he says to do it. Bow down to God and God alone!" 10 And then he said, "Don't keep what you've seen and heard a secret. All of this will happen soon. 11 Everyone will keep on with the ride they started. If they were evil, they'll continue their ride. If they were nasty, they'll keep it up. If they were good, they'll keep going. And if they're holy, they'll stay that way."12 "Hey!" Jesus hollered. "I'm riding back soon! I'll be bringing y'alls reward with me when I come. Each will receive a reward based on what they've done.
13 I am the first and the last. The point rider and the drag, the beginning and the end."14 No one who washes their white shirts and eats from the tree of life will be disappointed. None will regret being able to walk through the gates of the town.
15 But outside the gates will be those perverts who practice magic, lie, cheat, and steal. Outside are those who worship idols and kill.16 "I, Jesus, sent my angel to tell the churches these things I have shown you. I am an ancestor of David's family; I am the bright morning star."
17 The Holy Spirit and the bride say, "Come on!"
Everyone who hears this must also say, "Come on!"
Come on, whoever is thirsty. Drink from the windmill of life as a gift. It is yours without charge.
Finally
18 I, John, am warning anyone who listens to the words of this book that they cannot add anything to it. If they do, God will punish them like the plagues described in this book.
19 If anyone takes anything away from this book, their right to eat from the tree of life will be taken from them.20 Jesus is the author of all of this and he says, "It is true! I am riding back soon."
21 May the grace of Jesus be with all of y'all. Amen.
