Revelation 21
1 All of a sudden there was a new heaven and a new earth. The old ones were gone along with the sea.
2 The new city of Jerusalem came down from heaven dressed like a bride ready to get hitched. 3 A loud voice from the throne said, "God has unsaddled his horse and made his home among his cowboys. He will live with them and they with him. He will be their God and they will be his hands. 4 He will take his neckerchief and wipe away every tear. There will be no more death, crying, or pain. Those things have disappeared."5 Then God spoke from the throne and said, "I am making all things new again." He then spoke directly to me and said, "Jot this down, cowboy. My word can be trusted."
6 Then he said, "It's all done. I am the first and the last. I am the point rider and the drag. To anyone who is thirsty, I will give them drink from the windmill of life without charge. 7 Those who make it down the hard, narrow trail will get me as their God and I will love them like my own children. 8 But those who are lily-livered, double-crossers, perverts, killers, without morals, practicers of witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars will end up in the lake of fire. This will be their second death."The New City
9 One of the bowl angels came up and said, "Saddle up. I'm going to take you to see the bride of the Lamb."
10 He took me in the spirit to the top of a tall mountain. He had me look at the New Jerusalem as it descended out of heaven. 11 It shone with the glory of God. It looked to be made of expensive stone and was clear as crystal. 12 It had a big wall with twelve gates. Each gate had an angel watching over it. Each gate was named after one of the twelve clans of Israel. 13 Three gates adorned each side. 14 The walls were built on twelve foundation rocks. These rocks had the names of Jesus's twelve cowboys who rode with him while he was on earth. 15 The angel I was with had a golden staff with measuring marks on it. It was used to measure the walls, gates, and the city itself. 16 The town was a perfect square measuring 1500 miles on each side. 17 He measured the wall to be 216 feet high. 18 The wall was built of jasper and the city itself was made of such pure gold that it looked like glass. 19 The foundation rocks were covered in precious jewels. The first foundation rock was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh yellow quartz, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chalcedony, the eleventh turquoise, and the twelve amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each gate was made from a single pearl. The streets were pure gold that looked like glass.22 There was no temple because God and the Lamb are the temple.
23 There was no need for a sun or moon. It is lit with the glory of God and the Lamb is the torch. 24 The cowboys of the world will ride by its light. The rulers of the earth will bring their money and riches to the town. 25 The gates will never be closed. There will be no night. 26 All the nations and countries will bring their honor and glory to the town. 27 Nothing vile or nasty will ever be able to enter the town, nor anyone who does shameful things or tells lies. Only those whose names are written in the tally book of life will be able to enter.Copyright Statement
