The Whore

¹ One of the angels who had poured out a bowl came over and said, "Ride with me. I'm going to show you what will happen to that great whore called Babylon. ² She has intoxicated countless kings with her wine and the whole world has become enslaved to her immorality."

³ The Holy Spirit took control of me and the angel and I rode out to the desert. I saw a woman sitting on a beast that was covered in words that cussed God. This beast had seven heads and ten horns. ⁴ She wore red and purple and was covered in fancy jewelry. She held a wine glass in her hand filled with the filth of her immorality. ⁵ She had a tattoo on her forehead with a secret meaning, "Babylon the Great, mother of whores and perverts." ⁶ The whore was drunk on the blood of God's cowboys who had been killed.

I looked at her in amazement, ⁷ but the angel asked me, "Why do you look at her like that? I'll let you in on who she is and who the beast she rides is. ⁸ The beast was alive at one time, having crawled out of the hole, but will soon go off to be destroyed. Those who are still alive who aren't written down in the tally book of life will look at the beast and be amazed. It was once alive, now dead, but it will rise again.

⁹ "This all calls for a bunch of understanding and wisdom. The seven heads are the seven hills where the whore sits. They are hills, but also kings. ¹⁰ Five of the kings are dead, one is still alive, and the other one isn't here yet. When he gets here, his time will be short. ¹¹ The beast itself might be considered an eighth king, but still one of the seven. But remember, he is headed straight to hell.

¹² "The ten horns are kings who haven't had their rule yet. They will be given one hour to rule with the beast, that is all. ¹³ These ten kings will only have one purpose—to make the beast stronger. ¹⁴ There will be a fight with the Lamb and his cowboys, but the beast and his followers will be defeated because Jesus is the Lord of lords and the King of kings."

¹⁵ The angel then said, "The waters upon which the whore sits are the nations, races, and people of the earth. ¹⁶ The ten horns and the beast will turn on the whore. They will take everything from her and leave her naked in the street to die with her flesh ripped and burned away. ¹⁷ This was God's plan all along, for everyone to give power to the beast until the word of God is complete.

¹⁸ "The woman you saw is a symbol of the city that rules the earth with fear and tyranny."
