Then he went away from Jerusalem. 19 Now the rest of the acts of Joash, 2 Kings 12:1ff">[fn] and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 20 And his servants arose and formed a conspiracy, and killed Joash in the house of the Millo, [fn] which goes down to Silla. 21 21 For Jozachar 2 Chronicles 24:26">[fn] the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, 2 Chronicles 24:26">[fn] his servants, struck him. So he died, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of David. Then Amaziah his son reigned in his place.

The rest of the acts of Joash — We have already seen that this man, so promising in the beginning of his reign, apostatized, became an idolater, encouraged idolatry among his subjects, and put the high priest Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada his benefactor, to death; and now God visited that blood upon him by the hands of the tyrannous king of Syria, and by his own servants.
