Psalms 85

Turn Us Back, O God

For the choir director. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.

1 O Yahweh, You showed (C1)favor to Your land;
You (F1)(C2)returned the fortunes of Jacob.

2 You (C1)forgave the iniquity of Your people;
You (C2)covered all their sin. Selah
may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical Interlude">(F1)Selah.

3 You (C1)withdrew all Your fury;
You (C2)turned back from Your burning anger.

4 (C1)Turn us back, O God of our salvation,
And (C2)cause Your vexation toward us to cease.

5 Will (C1)You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger from generation to generation?

6 Will You not Yourself (C1)return to (F1)revive us,
That Your people may (C2)be glad in You?

7 Show us, O Yahweh, Your lovingkindness,
And (C1)give us Your salvation.

8 Let me hear what the God, Yahweh, will speak;
For He will (C1)speak peace to His people, (F1)to His holy ones;
But let them not (C2)turn back to (F2)folly.

9 Surely (C1)His salvation is near to those who (F1)fear Him,
That (C2)glory may dwell in our land.

10 (C1)Lovingkindness and (F1)truth have met together;
(C2)Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 (F1)Truth (C1)springs up from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.

12 Indeed, (C1)Yahweh will give what is good,
And our (C2)land will yield its produce.

13 (C1)Righteousness will go before Him
And will establish the way of His steps.
