Psalms 64

The Righteous Will Be Glad in Yahweh

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

1 Hear my voice, O God, in (C1)my (F1)complaint;
(C2)Guard my life from dread of the enemy.

2 Hide me from the (C1)secret counsel of evildoers,
From the tumult of the (C2)workers of iniquity,

3 Who (C1)have sharpened their tongue like a sword.
They (C2)aimed bitter speech as their arrow,

4 To (C1)shoot (F1)from places of hiding at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him, and (C2)do not fear.

5 They (F1)hold fast to themselves an evil purpose;
They (F2)talk of (C1)laying snares secretly;
They say, "(C2)Who can see them?"

6 They searched out unrighteousness, saying,
"We have completed a diligent search";
For the (F1)(C1)inward thought of a man and his heart are (F2)deep.

7 But (C1)God (F1)will shoot them with an arrow;
Suddenly they will be wounded.

8 So (F1)they will (C1)cause their own tongue (C2)to turn against them;
All who see them will (C3)shake their head.

9 Then all men (F1)will (C1)fear,
And they (F2)will (C2)declare the work of God,
And (F3)will consider (F4)what He has done.

10 The righteous man will be (C1)glad in Yahweh and will (C2)take refuge in Him;
And all the upright in heart will boast.
