Psalms 6

   |

Yahweh, Rescue My Soul

For the choir director. With stringed instruments. According to the (FA)Sheminith. A Psalm of David.

1 O Yahweh, (C1)do not reprove me in Your anger,
Nor discipline me in Your wrath.

2 Be gracious to me, O Yahweh, for I am (C1)pining away;
(C2)Heal me, O Yahweh, for (C3)my bones are dismayed.

3 And my (C1)soul is greatly dismayed;
But You, O Yahweh—(C2)how long?

4 Return, O Yahweh, (C1)rescue my (F1)soul;
Save me because of Your lovingkindness.

5 For (C1)there is no remembrance of You in death;
In Sheol who will give You thanks?

6 I am (C1)weary with my sighing;
Every night I make my bed swim,
I flood my couch with (C2)my tears.

7 My (C1)eye has wasted away with grief;
It has become old because of all my adversaries.

8 (C1)Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity,
For Yahweh (C2)has heard the sound of my weeping.

9 Yahweh (C1)has heard my supplication,
Yahweh (C2)receives my prayer.

10 All my enemies will (C1)be ashamed and greatly dismayed;
They shall (F1)turn back, they will (C2)suddenly be ashamed.
