Psalms 142

Give Heed to My Cry

A (FA)Maskil of David. When he was (FB)in the cave. A Prayer.

1 With my voice to Yahweh, I (C1)cry aloud;
With my voice to Yahweh, I (C2)make supplication.

2 I (C1)pour out my complaint before Him;
I declare my (C2)distress before Him.

3 When (C1)my spirit (F1)was faint within me,
You knew my path.
In the way where I walk
They have (C2)hidden a trap for me.

4 Look to the right and see;
That there is (C1)no one who regards me;
(C2)A way of escape has been destroyed from me;
(C3)No one cares for my soul.

5 I cried out to You, O Yahweh;
I said, "You are (C1)my refuge,
My (C2)portion in the (C3)land of the living.

6 "(C1)Give heed to my cry of lamentation,
For I am (C2)brought very low;
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are too (C3)strong for me.

7 "(C1)Bring my soul out of prison,
To give thanks to Your name;
The righteous will encircle me,
For You will (C2)deal bountifully with me."
