Psalms 137
We Wept When We Remembered Zion
1 By the (C1)rivers of Babylon,
There we sat and also (C2)wept,
When we remembered Zion.
2 Upon the (F1)(C1)willows in the midst of it
We (C2)hung our lyres.
3 For there our captors (C1)asked us about the words of a song,
And (C2)our tormentors asked joyfully, saying,
"Sing for us one of the songs of Zion."
4 How can we sing a song of (C1)Yahweh
In a foreign land?
5 If I (C1)forget you, O Jerusalem,
May my right hand (F1)forget her skill.
6 May my (C1)tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
If I do not remember you,
If I do not (F1)(C2)exalt Jerusalem
Above my chief joy.
7 Remember, O Yahweh, against the sons of (C1)Edom
The day of Jerusalem,
Who said, "Tear it down! Tear it down
(C2)To its very foundation."
8 O daughter of Babylon, you (C1)devastated one,
How blessed will be the one who (C2)repays you
With (F1)the recompense with which you have recompensed us.
9 How blessed will be the one who seizes and (C1)dashes your infants
Against the cliff.
