Yahweh Was on Our Side

¹ "^(C1)Had it not been Yahweh who was on our side,"
^(C2)Let Israel now say,

² "Had it not been Yahweh who was on our side
When men rose up against us,

³ Then they would have ^(C1)swallowed us alive,
When their ^(C2)anger was kindled against us;

⁴ Then the ^(C1)waters would have flowed over us,
The stream would have ^(F1)swept over our soul;

⁵ Then the ^(C1)raging waters would have ^(F1)swept over our soul."

⁶ Blessed be Yahweh,
Who has not given us to be ^(C1)prey for their teeth.

⁷ Our soul has ^(C1)escaped ^(C2)as a bird out of the ^(C3)snare of the trapper;
The snare is broken and we have escaped.

⁸ Our ^(C1)help is in the name of Yahweh,
Who ^(C2)made heaven and earth.
