Proverbs 13
1 A wise son responds to his father’s discipline, 2 From the fruit of his mouth, 3 The one who guards his mouth protects his life;(C1) 4 The slacker craves, yet has nothing, 5 The righteous hate lying, 6 Righteousness guards people of integrity,(F1) 7 One person pretends to be rich but has nothing;(C1) 8 Riches are a ransom for a person’s life,(C1) 9 The light of the righteous shines brightly,(C1) 10 Arrogance leads to nothing but strife,(C1) 11 Wealth obtained by fraud will dwindle,(C1) 12 Hope delayed makes the heart sick, 13 The one who has contempt for instruction will pay the penalty,(C1) 14 A wise person’s instruction is a fountain of life,(C1) 15 Good sense wins favor,(C1) 16 Every sensible person acts knowledgeably, 17 A wicked envoy falls into trouble, 18 Poverty and disgrace come to those 19 Desire fulfilled is sweet to the taste, 20 The one who walks with the wise will become wise, 21 Disaster pursues sinners, 22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his(F1) grandchildren, 23 The uncultivated field of the poor yields abundant food, 24 The one who will not use the rod hates his son,(C1) 25 A righteous person eats until he is satisfied,
a person will enjoy good things,(C1)
but treacherous people have an appetite for violence.(C2)
the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.(C2)
but the diligent is fully satisfied.(C1)
but the wicked bring disgust and shame.
but wickedness undermines the sinner.(C1)
another pretends to be poor but has abundant wealth.(C2)
but a poor person hears no threat.
but the lamp of the wicked is put out.(C2)
but wisdom is gained by those who take advice.
but whoever earns it through labor(F1) will multiply it.(C2)
but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.(C1)
but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.(C2)
turning people away from the snares of death.(C2)
but the way of the treacherous never changes.(F1)
but a fool displays his stupidity.(C1)
but a trustworthy courier brings healing.(C1)
who ignore discipline,
but the one who accepts correction will be honored.(C1)
but to turn from evil is detestable to fools.(C1)
but a companion of fools will suffer harm.
but good rewards the righteous.(C1)
but the sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.(C1)
but without justice, it is swept away.
but the one who loves him disciplines him diligently.(C2)
but the stomach of the wicked is empty.(C1)
