Proverbs 11
1 Dishonest scales are detestable to the Lord,(C1) 2 When arrogance comes, disgrace follows, 3 The integrity of the upright guides them,(C1) 4 Wealth is not profitable on a day of wrath, 5 The righteousness of the blameless clears his path, 6 The righteousness of the upright rescues them, 7 When the wicked person dies, 8 The righteous one is rescued from trouble; 9 With his mouth the ungodly destroys his neighbor, 10 When the righteous thrive, a city rejoices;(C1) 11 A city is built up by the blessing of the upright,(C1) 12 Whoever shows contempt for his neighbor lacks sense, 13 A gossip goes around revealing a secret, 14 Without guidance, a people will fall, 15 If someone puts up security for a stranger, 16 A gracious woman gains honor, 17 A kind man benefits himself,(C1) 18 The wicked person earns an empty wage, 19 Genuine righteousness leads to life,(C1) 20 Those with twisted minds are detestable to the Lord, 21 Be assured(F1) that a wicked person 22 A beautiful woman who rejects good sense 23 The desire of the righteous turns out well,(C1) 24 One person gives freely, 25 A generous person will be enriched,(C1) 26 People will curse(C1) anyone who hoards grain, 27 The one who searches for what is good(C1) seeks favor, 28 Anyone trusting in his riches will fall,(C1) 29 The one who brings ruin on his household(C1) 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,(C1) 31 If the righteous will be repaid on earth,
but with humility comes wisdom.(C1)
but the perversity of the treacherous destroys them.(C2)
but righteousness rescues from death.(C1)
but the wicked person will fall because of his wickedness.
but the treacherous are trapped by their own desires.(C1)
his expectation comes to nothing,
and hope placed in wealth(F1)(F2) vanishes.(C1)
in his place, the wicked one goes in.(C1)
but through knowledge the righteous are rescued.
when the wicked die, there is joyful shouting.
but it is torn down by the mouth of the wicked.(C2)
but a person with understanding keeps silent.(C1)
but a trustworthy person keeps a confidence.(C1)
but with many counselors there is deliverance.(C1)
he will suffer for it,(C1)
but the one who hates such agreements is protected.
but violent(F1) people gain only riches.
but a cruel person brings ruin on himself.(C2)
but the one who sows righteousness, a true reward.(C1)
but pursuing evil leads to death.(C2)
but those with blameless conduct are his delight.(C1)
will not go unpunished,(C1)
but the offspring of the righteous will escape.
is like a gold ring in a pig’s snout.(C1)
but the hope of the wicked leads to wrath.(C2)
yet gains more;(C1)
another withholds what is right,
only to become poor.(C2)
and the one who gives a drink of water
will receive water.(C2)
but a blessing will come to the one who sells it.(C2)
but if someone looks for trouble, it will come to him.(C2)
but the righteous will flourish like foliage.(C2)
will inherit the wind,(C2)
and a fool will be a slave
to someone whose heart is wise.
and a wise person captivates people.
how much more the wicked and sinful.(C1)
