Psalms 143
Prayer for Help and Guidance.
1 Hear my prayer, O LORD,
(C1)Listen to my supplications!
Answer me in Your (C2)faithfulness, and in Your (C3)righteousness.
2 And (C1)do not enter into judgment with Your servant,
For in Your sight (C2)no man living is righteous or justified. (VR1)
3 For the enemy has persecuted me,
He has crushed my life down (C1)to the ground;
He (C2)has made me dwell in dark places, like those who have been long dead.
4 Therefore (C1)my spirit is overwhelmed and weak within me wrapped in darkness;
My heart (C2)grows numb within me.
5 I (C1)remember the days of old;
I (C2)meditate on all that You have done;
I (C3)ponder the work of Your hands.
6 I (C1)reach out my hands to You;
My (C2)throat thirsts for You, as a parched land thirsts for water. Selah.
7 (C1)Answer me quickly, O LORD, my (C2)spirit fails;
(C3)Do not hide Your face from me,
Or I will become like (C4)those who go down into the pit (grave).
8 Let me hear Your (C1)lovingkindness (C2)in the morning,
For I trust (C3)in You.
Teach me the (C4)way in which I should walk,
For I (C5)lift up my soul to You.
9 (C1)Rescue me, O LORD, from my enemies;
I take refuge in You.
10 (C1)Teach me to do Your will so that I may please You,
For You are my God;
Let (C2)Your good Spirit (C3)lead me on level ground.
11 (C1)Save my life, O LORD, (C2)for Your name's sake;
(C3)In Your righteousness bring my life out of trouble.
12 In your lovingkindness, (C1)silence and destroy my enemies
And (C2)destroy all those who afflict my life,
For (C3)I am Your servant.
