Prayer for the LORD'S Blessing Upon the Sanctuary.

¹ O LORD, remember on David's behalf
All ^(C1)his hardship and affliction;

² How he swore to the LORD
And vowed to ^(C1)the Mighty One of Jacob:

³ "I absolutely will not enter ^(C1)my house,
Nor get into my bed—

⁴ I certainly will not ^(C1)permit my eyes to sleep
Nor my eyelids to slumber,

⁵ Until I find a ^(C1)place for the LORD,
A dwelling place for ^(C2)the Mighty One of Jacob (Israel)." ^(VR1)

⁶ Behold, we heard of it at ^(C1)Ephrathah;
We found it in the ^(C2)field of Jaar. ^(VR1)

⁷ Let us go into His ^(C1)tabernacle;
Let us ^(C2)worship at His ^(C3)footstool.

^8 (C1)Arise, O LORD, to Your ^(C2)resting place,
You and the ark the symbol of Your ^(C3)strength.

⁹ Let Your priests be ^(C1)clothed with righteousness (right living),
And let Your ^(C2)godly ones shout for joy.

¹⁰ For the sake of Your servant David,
Do not turn away the face of Your ^(C1)anointed.

¹¹ The LORD ^(C1)swore to David
A truth from which He will not turn back:
"One ^(C2)of your ^(F1)descendants I will set upon your throne. ^(VR1)

¹² "If your children will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I will teach them,
Their children also shall ^(C1)sit upon your throne forever."

¹³ For the LORD has ^(C1)chosen Zion;
He has ^(C2)desired it for His dwelling place:

¹⁴ "This is My ^(C1)resting place forever" says the LORD;
"Here will I ^(C2)dwell, for I have desired it.

¹⁵ "I will abundantly ^(C1)bless her provisions;
I will ^(C2)satisfy her poor with bread.

¹⁶ "Her ^(C1)priests also I will clothe with salvation,
And her ^(C1)godly ones will shout aloud for joy.

¹⁷ "There I will make the ^(C1)horn (strength) of David grow;
I have prepared a ^(C2)lamp for My anointed fulfilling the promises. ^(VR1)

¹⁸ "His enemies I will ^(C1)clothe with shame,
But upon himself shall his ^(C2)crown shine."
