God's Rescue of Israel from Egypt.

¹ When Israel came ^(C1)out of Egypt,
The house of Jacob from a people of ^(C2)strange language,

² Judah became His ^(C1)sanctuary,
And Israel ^(C2)His dominion. ^(VR1)

³ The Red ^(C1)Sea ^(F1)looked and fled;
The ^(C2)Jordan turned back. ^(VR1)

⁴ The mountains ^(C1)leaped like rams,
The little hills, like lambs.

⁵ What ^(C1)ails you, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?

⁶ O mountains, that you leap like rams,
O little hills, like lambs?

^7 (C1)Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the God of Jacob (Israel),

⁸ Who ^(C1)turned the rock into a ^(C2)pool of water,
The ^(C3)flint into a fountain of water. ^(VR1)
