The Widow’s Oil Multiplied
1 One of the wives of the sons of the prophets(C1) cried out to Elisha, “Your servant, my husband, has died. You know that your servant feared the Lord.(C2) Now the creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves.”(C3)
1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead; and you know that your servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take to him my two children to be bondservants.

1 The wife of a man from the groups of prophets said to Elisha, "Your servant, my husband, is dead. You know he honored the Lord. But now the man he owes money to is coming to take my two boys as his slaves!"

1 Now a wife of one of the prophets appealed to Elisha for help, saying, "Your servant, my husband is dead. You know that your servant was a loyal follower of the Lord. Now the creditor is coming to take away my two boys to be his servants."

Elisha Helps a Poor Widow
1 One day the widow of one of the Lord's prophets said to Elisha, "You know that before my husband died, he was a follower of yours and a worshiper of the Lord. But he owed a man some money, and now that man is on his way to take my two sons as his slaves."
1 The wife of one of the guild prophets complained to Elisha. "Your servant my husband died," she said, "and you know that he feared Adonai. Now a creditor has come to take my two children as his slaves."
1 And a woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha saying, Thy servant my husband is dead, and thou knowest that thy servant feared Jehovah; and the creditor is come to take my two children to be bondmen.
A Prophet's Widow Asks Elisha for Help
1 A man from the group of prophets[a] had a wife. This man died, and his wife cried out to Elisha, "My husband was like a servant to you. Now he is dead! You know he honored the Lord. But he owed money to a man. Now that man is coming to take my two boys and make them his slaves!"

Elisha Helps a Poor Widow
1 The widow of a member of a group of prophets went to Elisha and said, "Sir, my husband has died! As you know, he was a God-fearing man, but now a man he owed money to has come to take away my two sons as slaves in payment for my husband's debt."
Elisha Answers a Widow's Request
1 A certain woman from the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, "Your servant my husband is dead. Now you know that your servant was a fearer of Yahweh, but the creditor came to take two of my children for himself as slaves.
1 And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets had cried to Elisha, saying, My husband, your servant, is dead. And you know that your servant has seen Jehovah. And the lender has come to take my two children to himself for slaves.
1 And there cried a woman amoge the wyues of the prophetes children vnto Eliseus, and sayde: Thy seruaunt my hu?bade is deed, and thou knowest that thy seruaunt feared the LORDE. Now commeth the man that he was detter vnto, and wyll take awaye both my children to be bonde seruauntes.

1 One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, "My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves."
Elisha and the Jar of Oil
1 Now the wife of the son of one of the men who tell what will happen in the future cried out to Elisha, "Your servant, my husband, is dead. You know that your servant honored the Lord with fear. But the man to whom he owed money has come to take my two children to make them serve him."

1 And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets has cried to Elisha, saying, "Your servant, my husband, is dead, and you have known that your servant was fearing YHWH, and the lender has come to take my two children to himself for servants."
1 One day the wife of a man from the guild of prophets called out to Elisha, "Your servant my husband is dead. You well know what a good man he was, devoted to God. And now the man to whom he was in debt is on his way to collect by taking my two children as slaves."

2 Elisha asked her, “What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?”
2 Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? tell me; what have you in the house? She said, Your handmaid has nothing in the house, except a pot of oil.2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. 2 And Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?" And she said, "Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil."
2 Elisha answered, "How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?"
The woman said, "I don't have anything there except a pot of oil." 2 Elisha said to her, "What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" She answered, "Your servant has nothing in the house except a small jar of olive oil." 2 Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have of value in the house?" She said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house except (C1)a small jar of olive oil."2 So Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your servant has nothing in the house except (C1)a jar of oil."2 Then Elisha saide vnto her, What shall I do for thee? tell mee, what hast thou at home? And she sayd, Thine handmayd hath nothing at home, saue a pitcher of oyle.2 And Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your servant-woman has nothing in the house except (C1)a jar of oil."
2 "Maybe there's something I can do to help," Elisha said. "What do you have in your house?"
"Sir, I have nothing but a small bottle of olive oil." 2 Elisha asked her, "What should I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" She answered, "Your servant has nothing in the house but a flask of oil."
2 And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thy handmaid has not anything at all in the house but a pot of oil.
2 Elisha answered, "How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?"
The woman said, "I don't have anything in the house except a jar of olive oil."2 And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? Tell me, what have you in the house? And she said, Your handmaid has nothing in the house except a pot of oil.
2 "What shall I do for you?" he asked. "Tell me, what do you have at home?"
"Nothing at all, except a small jar of olive oil," she answered. 2 Elisha asked her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" Then she said, "Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of olive oil." 2 And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? Tell me. What do you have in the house? And she said, Your handmaid has nothing in the house except a pot of oil.2 Eliseus sayde vnto her: What shal I do for the? Tell me, what hast thou in the house? She sayde: Thy handmayden hath nothinge in the house but a pitcher wt oyle. 2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me; what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thy handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil. 2 Then Elisha said to her, What am I to do for you? say now, what have you in the house? And she said, Your servant has nothing in the house but a pot of oil.2 Elisa saide vnto her: Tell me what I shall do for thee? What hast thou in thyne house? She saide: Thyne handemayde hath nothing at all in the house, saue a pitcher with oyle.2 And Elisha said unto her: 'What shall I do for thee? tell me; what hast thou in the house?' And she said: 'Thy handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.'2 And Elisha said vnto her, What shall I doe for thee? Tell mee, what hast thou in the house? And shee sayd, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, saue a pot of oyle. 2 And Elisaie said, What shall I do for thee? tell me what thou hast in the house. And she said, Thy servant has nothing in the house, except oil wherewith I anoint myself. 2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me; what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. 2 “How can I help you?” asked Elisha. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered, “Your servant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”2 To whom Elisee seide, What wolt thou that Y do to thee? seie thou to me, what hast thou in thin hows? And she answeride, Y thin handmayde haue not ony thing in myn hows, no but a litil of oile, bi which Y schal be anoyntid.2 And Elisha saith unto her, `What do I do for thee? declare to me, what hast thou in the house?' and she saith, `Thy maid-servant hath nothing in the house except a pot of oil.'2 And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? tell me; what do you have in the house? And she said, Your slave doesn't have anything in the house, save a pot of oil.2 And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thy handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.2 Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? tell me; what have you in the house? She said, Your handmaid has nothing in the house, except a pot of oil. 2 So Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil."
2 "What can I do to help you?" Elisha asked. "Tell me, what do you have in the house?"
"Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil," she replied. 2 Elisha said to her, "What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your woman servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil." 2 Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" She answered, "Your servant has nothing in the house, except a jar of oil." 2 And Elisha said unto her - What shall I do for thee? tell me what thou, hast, in the house. And she said - Thy maid-servant hath, nothing at all, in the house, save a flask of oil.2 And Eliseus said to her: What wilt thou have me do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in thy house? And she answered: I, thy handmaid, have nothing in my house but a little oil, to anoint me.2 And Eli'sha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house, except a jar of oil."2 And Elisha says to her, "What do I do for you? Declare to me, what do you have in the house?" And she says, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a pot of oil."
2 Elisha said, "I wonder how I can be of help. Tell me, what do you have in your house?"
"Nothing," she said. "Well, I do have a little oil."2 Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house except (C1)a jar of oil."
She said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.”(C1)
3 Then he said, “Go out and borrow empty containers from all your neighbors. Do not get just a few.(C1) 3 Then he said, Go, borrow you vessels abroad of all your neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 3 Then he said, "Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few.
3 Then Elisha said, "Go and get empty jars from all your neighbors. Don't ask for just a few. 3 He said, "Go and ask all your neighbors for empty containers. Get as many as you can. 3 Then he said, "Go, borrow containers from all your neighbors, empty containers—and not just a few.3 Then he said, "Go, (F1)borrow containers (F2)elsewhere for yourself, empty containers from all your neighbors—do not get too few.3 And he sayde, Goe, and borowe thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, emptie vessels, and spare not.3 Then he said, "Go, ask for vessels for yourself, from those outside, from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few.
3 Elisha told her, "Ask your neighbors for their empty jars. And after you've borrowed as many as you can, 3 Then he said, "Go, and borrow containers from all your neighbors, empty containers; and don't borrow just a few!
3 And he said, Go, borrow for thyself vessels abroad from all thy neighbours, empty vessels; let it not be few;
3 Then Elisha said, "Go and borrow bowls from all your neighbors. They must be empty. Borrow plenty of bowls.3 Then he said to her, Go, borrow for yourself vessels from the houses of all your neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
3 "Go to your neighbors and borrow as many empty jars as you can," Elisha told her. 3 Then he said to her, "Go, ask for yourself some containers from the streets, from all your neighbors. You must collect as many empty containers as you can![a] 3 And he said, Go, beg vessels for yourself from outside, from your neighbors, empty vessels. Do not let them be few.3 He sayde: Go yi waye, borowe without of all thy neghboures emptye vessels, & that not a fewe, 3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 3 Then he said, Go out to all your neighbours and get vessels, a very great number of them.3 He saide vnto her: Go, and borow vessels for thee [of them that are] without, [euen] of all thy neighbours, emptie vessels, and that not a fewe:3 Then he said: 'Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.3 Then hee said, Goe, borrow thee vessels abroad, of all thy neighbours; euen emptie vessels, borrow not a few. 3 And he said to her, Go, borrow for thyself vessels without of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 3 “Go,” said Elisha, “borrow empty jars from all your neighbors. Do not gather just a few.3 To whom he seide, Go thou, and axe bi borewyng of alle thi neiyboris voide vessels not fewe.3 And he saith, `Go, ask for thee vessels from without, from all thy neighbours -- empty vessels -- let [them] not be few;3 Then he said, Go, borrow for yourself vessels abroad of all your neighbors, even empty vessels; don't borrow a few.3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, [even] empty vessels; borrow not a few.3 Then he said, Go, borrow you vessels abroad of all your neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 3 Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors--empty vessels; do not gather just a few.
3 And Elisha said, "Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. 3 Then he said, "Go around and get jars from all your neighbors. Get empty jars, many of them. 3 He said, "Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not just a few. 3 And he said - Go, ask thee vessels, from without, of all thy neighbours, - empty vessels, let them not be few.3 And he said to her: Go, borrow of all thy neighbours empty vessels, not a few.3 Then he said, "Go outside, borrow vessels of all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few.3 And he says, "Go, ask [for] vessels for yourself from outside, from all your neighbors—empty vessels—let [them] not be few;3-4 "Here's what you do," said Elisha. "Go up and down the street and borrow jugs and bowls from all your neighbors. And not just a few—all you can get. Then come home and lock the door behind you, you and your sons. Pour oil into each container; when each is full, set it aside."3 Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few.4 Then go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour oil into all these containers. Set the full ones to one side.” 4 You shall go in, and shut the door on you and on your sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and you shall set aside that which is full.
4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. 4 Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside." 4 Then go into your house and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and set the full ones aside." 4 Go and close the door behind you and your sons. Pour the olive oil into all the containers; set aside each one when you have filled it." 4 "Then you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out the oil you have into all these containers, and you shall set aside each one when it is full."4 "Then you shall come in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour into all these containers; and you shall set aside what is full."4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the doore vpon thee and vpon thy sonnes, and powre out into all those vessels, & set aside those that are full.4 "And you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out into all these vessels, and you shall set aside what is full." 4 go home and shut the door behind you and your sons. Then begin filling the jars with oil and set each one aside as you fill it." 4 Then go in; shut the door, with you and your sons inside; and pour oil into all those containers; and as they are filled, put them aside."
4 and go in, and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and pour out into all those vessels, and set aside what is full. 4 Then go to your house and close the doors. Only you and your sons will be in the house. Then pour the oil into all the bowls. Fill them, and put them in a separate place."4 And then go in, and shut the door upon you and upon your sons, and pour out into all these vessels; and the vessel which is full bring up to me. 4 "Then you and your sons go into the house, close the door, and start pouring oil into the jars. Set each one aside as soon as it is full." 4 You must also go and shut the door behind you and your children, and you must pour out oil into all of these containers and set the filled ones aside." 4 And you shall go in and shut the door on you, and on your sons, and shall pour out into all these vessels. And you shall set aside the full ones.4 and go in, and shut ye dore behynde the with thy sonnes, and poure of it in to all ye vessels: & whan thou hast fylled them, delyuer them forth. 4 And thou shalt go in, and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and thou shalt set aside that which is full. 4 Then go in, and, shutting the door on yourself and your sons, put oil into all these vessels, putting on one side the full ones.4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the doore after thee and after thy sonnes, and powre out into all those vessels: and set asyde that which is full.4 And thou shalt go in, and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and thou shalt set aside that which is full.'4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the doore vpon thee, and vpon thy sonnes, and shalt powre out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. 4 And thou shalt go in and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and thou shalt pour forth into these vessels, and remove that which is filled. 4 And thou shalt go in, and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and thou shalt set aside that which is full. 4 Then go inside, shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour oil into all these jars, setting the full ones aside.”4 And entre, and close thi dore, whanne thou art with ynne, thou and thi sones; and putte ye therof in to alle these vessels; and whanne tho schulen be ful, thou schalt take awei.4 and thou hast entered, and shut the door upon thee, and upon thy sons, and hast poured out into all these vessels, and the full ones thou dost remove.'4 And you shall go in, and shut the door on you and on your sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and you shall set aside that which is full.4 And when thou hast come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.4 You shall go in, and shut the door on you and on your sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and you shall set aside that which is full. 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones." 4 Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled." 4 Then go in and shut the door behind you and your sons. She locked the door behind her and her sons; as they brought the containers to her, she filled them. When all the jugs and bowls were full, she said to one of her sons, "Another jug, please."
He said, "That's it. There are no more jugs."
Then the oil stopped.5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons; they were bringing the vessels to her and she poured.
After she had shut the door behind her and her sons, they kept bringing her containers, and she kept pouring.(C1) 6 When they were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another container.”
6 It happened, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, Bring me yet a vessel. He said to her, There isn't another vessel. The oil stayed.6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. 6 When the vessels were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "There is not another." Then the oil stopped flowing. 6 When the jars were all full, she said to her son, "Bring me another jar."
But he said, "There are no more jars." Then the oil stopped flowing. 6 When the containers were full, she said to one of her sons, "Bring me another container." But he answered her, "There are no more." Then the olive oil stopped flowing. 6 When (C1)the containers were all full, she said to her son, "Bring me another container." And he said to her, "There is not a one left." Then the oil stopped multiplying.6 When (C1)the containers were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another container." But he said to her, "There (F1)are no more containers." Then the oil stopped.6 And when the vessels were full, shee sayde vnto her sonne, Bring mee yet a vessel. And hee said vnto her, There is no moe vessels. And the oyle ceased.6 Now it happened that when (C1)the vessels were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "There is not one vessel more." And the oil stopped.
6 At last, she said to one of her sons, "Bring me another jar."
"We don't have any more," he answered, and the oil stopped flowing from the small bottle. 6 When the containers were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another container"; but he answered, "There isn't another container." Then the oil stopped flowing.
6 And it came to pass when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said to her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. 6 She filled many bowls. Finally, she said to her son, "Bring me another bowl."
But all the bowls were full. One of the sons said to her, "There aren't any more bowls." Then the oil in the jar was finished!6 And when the vessels were full, she said to her son, Bring me more vessels. But her son said to her, There are no more vessels. And the oil stopped. 6 When they had filled all the jars, she asked if there were any more. "That was the last one," one of her sons answered. And the olive oil stopped flowing. 6 It happened that when the containers were full, she said to her son, "Bring near me another container," but he said to her, "There is not another container." Then the olive oil stopped flowing. 6 And it happened when the vessels were full, she said to her son, Bring another vessel to me. And he said to her, There is no other vessel; and the oil stopped.6 And whan the vessels were full, she sayde vnto hir sonne: Brynge me yet one vessell. He sayde vnto her: There is not one vessell more here. Then stode ye oyle styll. 6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. 6 And when all the vessels were full, she said to her son, Get me another vessel. And he said, There are no more. And the flow of oil was stopped.6 And it came to passe, that when the vessels were ful, she said vnto her sonne: Bryng me yet a vessel. And he said vnto her: I haue no mo. And ye oyle ceassed.6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son: 'Bring me yet a vessel.' And he said unto her: 'There is not a vessel more.' And the oil stayed.6 And it came to passe, when the vessels were full, that shee said vnto her sonne, Bring me yet a vessell. And hee said vnto her, There is not a vessel more.
