But he didn't kill the sons of the assassins—he was mindful of what God commanded in The Revelation of Moses, that parents shouldn't be executed for their childrens' sins, nor children for their parents'. We each pay personally for our sins.
Amaziah Succeeds Joash in Judah
1 (C1)Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.2 He did what was right in the Lord’s sight but not wholeheartedly.(C1)
2 He did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart. 2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, (b)yet not with a whole heart. 2 Amaziah did what the Lord said was right, but he did not really want to obey him. 2 He did what the Lord approved, but not with wholehearted devotion.2 He did right in the sight of the LORD, (C1)yet not wholeheartedly.2 He did what was right in the sight of the LORD, (C1)only not wholeheartedly.2 He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, but not with a perfect heart. 2 And he did vprightly in the eyes of the Lord, but not with a perfite heart.2 And he did what was right in the sight of Yahweh, (C1)yet not with a whole heart.2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not wholeheartedly.
2 Even though Amaziah obeyed the Lord by doing right, he refused to be completely faithful. 2 He did what was right from Adonai's perspective, but not wholeheartedly.
2 And he did what was right in the sight of Jehovah, yet not with a perfect heart. 2 Amaziah did what the Lord wanted him to do, but not with all his heart.2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart. 2 He did what was pleasing to the Lord, but did it reluctantly. 2 And he did what was right in the eyes of Yahweh, only not with a fully-devoted heart. 2 And he did the right in the eyes of Jehovah; only, not with a perfect heart.2 And he dyd yt which was right in the sighte of the LORDE, but not wt a whole her. 2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, but not with a perfect heart. 2 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but his heart was not completely true to the Lord.2 And he dyd that which is right in the sight of the Lorde, but not with a perfect heart.2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not with a whole heart.2 And hee did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfite heart. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart. 2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart. 2 And he dide good in the siyt of the Lord, netheles not in perfit herte.2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, but not with a perfect heart.2 And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.2 And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a loyal heart. 2 Amaziah did what was pleasing in the Lord's sight, but not wholeheartedly. 2 Amaziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not with a whole heart. 2 He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, yet not with a true heart. 2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, - only not with a whole heart.2 And he did what was good in the sight of the Lord: but yet not with a perfect heart.2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not with a blameless heart.2 and he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah -- only, not with a perfect heart.2 and he does that which is right in the eyes of YHWH—only, not with a perfect heart.2 He did right in the sight of the LORD, (C1)yet not with a whole heart.
3 As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp,(F1) he executed his servants who had killed his father the king. 3 Now it happened, when the kingdom was established to him, that he killed his servants who had killed the king his father.
3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father. 3 And as soon as the royal power was firmly his, he killed his servants who had struck down the king his father. 3 As soon as Amaziah took strong control of the kingdom, he executed the officers who had murdered his father the king.
3 When he had secured control of the kingdom, he executed the servants who had assassinated his father. 3 When (C1)his kingdom was firmly established, he killed his servants who had struck down his father the king.3 Now (C1)it came about, as soon as the kingdom was (F1)firmly in his grasp, that he killed his servants who had killed his father the king.3 Now it happened, when the kingdom was established to him, that he killed his servants who had killed the king his father. 3 And when the kingdome was established vnto him, he slewe his seruants, that had slaine the King his father.3 Now (C1)it happened as soon as the kingdom was (F1)strong in his grasp, that he killed his servants who had struck down the king his father.3 As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, Amaziah executed the servants who had murdered his father the king. 3 For example, as soon as he had control of Judah, he arrested and killed the officers who had murdered his father.
3 As soon as he had the kingdom firmly in his control, he put to death the servants of his who had assassinated the king his father.
3 And it came to pass when the kingdom was established unto him, that he killed his servants who had smitten the king his father. 3 He became a strong king and killed the officials who had killed his father the king.3 Now it came to pass when the kingdom was strengthened in his hand, he slew his servants who had killed the king his father. 3 As soon as he was firmly in power, he executed the officials who had murdered his father. 3 And it happened that as his reign was strengthened, he killed his servants who had killed his father the king. 3 And it happened, when the kingdom had been made strong to him, he killed his servants, those who had struck the king, his father.3 Now whan his kingdome was in stregth, he slewe his seruautes which had slayne the kinge his father. 3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established unto him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father. 3 Now when he became strong in the kingdom, he put to death those men who had taken the life of the king his father.3 And assoone as he was setled in the kingdome, he slue his seruauntes that had killed the king his father.3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established unto him, that he slew his servants who had killed the king his father.3 Now it came to passe when the kingdome was established to him, that he slew his seruants, that had killed the king his father. 3 And it came to pass, when the kingdom was established in his hand, that he slew his servants who had slain the king his father. 3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established unto him, that he slew his servants which had killed the king his father. 3 And whanne he siy the empire strengthid to hym silf, he stranglide the seruauntis, that killiden the kyng, his fadir;3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his slaves that had killed the king his father.3 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.3 Now it happened, as soon as the kingdom was established for him, that he executed his servants who had murdered his father the king.
3 When Amaziah was well established as king, he executed the officials who had assassinated his father. 3 As soon as the nation was under his rule, he killed his servants who had killed his father the king. 3 As soon as the royal power was firmly in his hand he killed his servants who had murdered his father the king. 3 And it came to pass, when the kingdom was confirmed unto him, that he slew his servants who had smitten the king his father;3 And when he saw himself strengthened in his kingdom, he put to death the servants that had slain the king his father.3 And as soon as the royal power was firmly in his hand he killed his servants who had slain the king his father.3 And it cometh to pass, when the kingdom hath been strong upon him, that he slayeth his servants, those smiting the king his father,3 And it comes to pass, when the kingdom has been strong on him, that he slays his servants, those striking his father the king,3 Now (C1)it came about as soon as the kingdom was (F1)firmly in his grasp, that he killed his servants who had slain his father the king.4 However, he did not put their children to death, because—as it is written in the Law, in the book of Moses,(C1) where the Lord commanded—“Fathers are not to die because of children, and children are not to die because of fathers, but each one will die for his own sin.”(C2)
4 But he didn't put their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moshe, as the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.4 But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, where the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin. 4 But he did not put their children to death, according to what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the Lord commanded, (c)"Fathers shall not die because of their children, nor children die because of their fathers, but each one shall die for his own sin." 4 But Amaziah did not put to death their children. He obeyed what was written in the Book of Moses, where the Lord commanded, "Parents must not be put to death when their children do wrong, and children must not be put to death when their parents do wrong. Each must die for his own sins."[a] 4 However, he did not execute their sons. He obeyed the Lord's commandment as recorded in the law scroll of Moses, "Fathers must not be executed for what their sons do, and sons must not be executed for what their fathers do. A man must be executed only for his own sin."4 But he did not kill their children; for he did as it is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, "The (C1)fathers shall not die for the children, nor the children die for the fathers, but each shall be put to death for his own sin."4 However, he did not put their children to death, but did as it is written in the Law in the Book of Moses, which the LORD commanded, saying, "(C1)Fathers shall not be put to death for sons, nor sons be put to death for fathers; but each shall be put to death for his own sin."4 But he didn't put their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin. 4 But he slewe not their children, but did as it is written in the Lawe, and in the booke of Moses, where the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not dye for the children, neyther shall the children die for the fathers, but euery man shall dye for his owne sinne.4 But he did not put their sons to death, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, which Yahweh commanded, saying, "(C1)Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor sons be put to death for their fathers, but each shall be put to death for his own sin."4 Yet he did not put their sons to death, according to what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children, and children must not be put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.&rdquo(a); 4 But the children of those officers were not killed; the Lord had commanded in the Law of Moses that only the people who sinned were to be punished.[b] 4 But he did not put their children to death; rather, he acted according to what is written in the Torah, in the scroll of Moshe, as Adonai ordered when he said, "Fathers are not to die for the children, nor are the children to die for the fathers; every person will die for his own sin."
4 But their children he did not put to death, but [did] according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, wherein Jehovah commanded saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, nor shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin. 4 But Amaziah obeyed the law written in the Book of Moses and did not kill the official's children. The Lord commanded, "Parents must not be put to death for something their children did, and children must not be put to death for something their parents did. People should be put to death only for what they themselves did."[a]4 But he did not slay the children of the murderers, because so it is written in the book of the law of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin. 4 (b)He did not, however, execute their children, but followed what the Lord had commanded in the Law of Moses: "Parents are not to be put to death for crimes committed by their children, and children are not to be put to death for crimes committed by their parents; people are to be put to death only for crimes they themselves have committed." 4 But he did not put their children to death, according to what is written in the law, in the scroll of Moses, where Yahweh commanded, saying, "Fathers shall not be put to death on account of the sons, and the sons shall not be put to death on account of the fathers, but each shall be put to death for his own sin."4 But he did not kill their sons, but did as is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, whom Jehovah commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the sons, and the sons shall not die for the fathers; but they each shall die for his own sin.4 But their childre slewe he not, for so is it wrytten in the boke of the lawe of Moses, where the LORDE comaundeth, and sayeth: The fathers shal not dye for the children, nether shal the children dye for the fathers: but euery one shal die for his awne synne. 4 But he put not their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as Jehovah commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.4 But he did not put their children to death, for he kept the orders of the Lord recorded in the book of the law of Moses, saying, The fathers are not to be put to death for their children or the children for their fathers, but a man is to be put to death for the sin which he himself has done.4 But he slue not their children, because it is written thus in the lawe and booke of Moyses, where the Lorde commaunded, saying: The fathers shall not dye for the children, neither shall the children dye for the fathers, but euery man shall dye for his owne sinne.4 But he put not their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying: 'The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.'4 But hee slewe not their children, but did as it is written in the Law in the booke of Moses, where the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but euery man shall die for his owne sinne. 4 But he slew not their sons, according to the covenant of the law of the Lord, as it is written, and as the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, and the sons shall not die for the fathers, but they shall die each for his own sin. 4 But he put not their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin. 4 but he killide not the sones of hem; as it is writun in the book of the lawe of Moises, where the Lord comaundide, seiynge, Fadris schulen not be slayn for the sones, nether the sones for her fadris; but ech man schal die in his owne synne.4 But he did not put their sons to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the sons, neither shall the sons die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.4 But he slew not their children, but [did] as [it is] written in the law of the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.4 However he did not execute their children, but did as it is written in the Law in the Book of Moses, where the Lord commanded, saying, "The fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall the children be put to death for their fathers; but a person shall die for his own sin." [fn] 4 However, he did not kill the children of the assassins, for he obeyed the command of the Lord as written by Moses in the Book of the Law: "Parents must not be put to death for the sins of their children, nor children for the sins of their parents. Those deserving to die must be put to death for their own crimes."[b] 4 But he did not kill their children. He did what is written in the Law in the book of Moses. The Lord had said in this Law, "Fathers must not be put to death for the children. And children must not be put to death for the fathers. Each must be put to death for his own sin." (a) 4 But he did not put their children to death, according to what is written in the law, in the book of Moses, where the Lord commanded, "The parents shall not be put to death for the children, or the children be put to death for the parents; but all shall be put to death for their own sins."4 but, their sons, he put not to death, - but as it is written in the law - in the book of Moses - how that Yahweh commanded, saying-Fathers, shall not die for, sons, and Sons, shall not die, for, fathers, but Each man, for his own sin, shall die.4 But he slew not their children, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, where the Lord commanded, saying: The fathers shall not be slain for the children, nor the children for their fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.4 But he did not put their children to death, according to what is written in the law, in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, or the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin."4 and their sons he hath not put to death, but [did] as is written in the law, in the book of Moses, whom Jehovah commanded, saying, `Fathers do not die for sons, and sons die not for fathers, but each for his own sin they die.'4 and he has not put their sons to death, but [did] as is written in the Law, in the Scroll of Moses, whom YHWH commanded, saying, "Fathers do not die for sons, and sons do not die for fathers, but they each die for his own sin."4 However, he did not put their children to death, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, which the LORD commanded, saying, "(C1)Fathers shall not be put to death for sons, nor sons be put to death for fathers, but each shall be put to death for his own sin."
