He said, "Listen carefully, Asa, and listen Judah and Benjamin: God will stick with you as long as you stick with him. If you look for him he will let himself be found; but if you leave him he'll leave you. For a long time Israel didn't have the real God, nor did they have the help of priest or teacher or book. But when they were in trouble and got serious, and decided to seek God, the God of Israel, God let himself be found. At that time it was a dog-eat-dog world; life was constantly up for grabs—no one, regardless of country, knew what the next day might bring. Nation battered nation, city pummeled city. God let loose every kind of trouble among them.
The Prophet Azariah Warns Asa
1 Now (C1)the Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded,2 So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Asa and all Judah and Benjamin, hear me. The Lord is with you(C1) when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you,(C2) but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.(C3) 2 and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, Hear you me, Asa, and all Yehudah and Binyamin: the LORD is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you. 2 and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: (b)The Lord is with you while you are with him. (c)If you seek him, he will be found by you, (d)but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. 2 Azariah went to meet Asa and said, "Listen to me, Asa and all you people of Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you obey him, you will find him, but if you leave him, he will leave you. 2 He met Asa and told him, "Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin! The Lord is with you when you are loyal to him. If you seek him, he will respond to you, but if you reject him, he will reject you. 2 and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: (C1)the LORD is with you while you are with Him. (C2)If you seek Him inquiring for and of Him, as your soul's first necessity, He will let you find Him; but if you abandon (turn away from) Him, He will abandon (turn away from) you.2 and he went out (F1)to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: (C1)the LORD is with you when you are with Him. And (C2)if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you abandon Him, He will abandon you.2 and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, Hear you me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: Yahweh is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. 2 And he went out to meete Asa, and said vnto him, O Asa, and all Iudah, and Beniamin, heare ye me. The Lorde is with you, while ye be with him: and if ye seeke him, he wil be founde of you, but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.2 and he went out (F1)to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: (C1)Yahweh is with you when you are with Him. And (C2)if you seek Him, He will be found; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.2 So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. 2 At once, Azariah went to Asa and said:
Listen to me, King Asa and you people of Judah and Benjamin. The Lord will be with you and help you, as long as you obey and worship him. But if you disobey him, he will desert you. 2 he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Y'hudah and Binyamin! Yahweh is with you while you are with him. And if you will seek him he will be found by you. But if you forsake him he will forsake you. 2 And he went out before Asa, and said to him, Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. Jehovah is with you while you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will be found by you. But if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.2 which wente forth to Asa, and sayde vnto him: Heare me Asa and all Iuda & Ben Iamin: The LORDE is with you, whyle ye are with him: and yf ye seke him, he wylbe founde of you. The LORD is with you while you are with Him. "Listen, all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The Lord will stay with you as long as you stay with him! Whenever you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will abandon you. 2 Azariah went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with Him. 6 And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity. 6 They were broken in pieces. Nation was crushed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them with every sort of distress. 6 One nation would destroy another nation, and one city would destroy another city, because God troubled them with all kinds of distress. 6 One nation was crushed by another, and one city by another, for God caused them to be in great turmoil. 6 "(C1)Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every kind of distress.6 "(C1)Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every kind of distress.6 They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God did vex them with all adversity. 6 For nation was destroyed of nation, and citie of citie: for God troubled them with all aduersitie.6 "(C1)And nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God threw them into confusion with every kind of distress.6 Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God afflicted them with all kinds of adversity. 6 Nations were destroying each other, and cities were wiping out other cities, because God was causing trouble and unrest everywhere. 6 so that they were shattered to pieces, nation against nation and city against city, as God troubled them with every kind of distress.
