1 Let men consider us, as the ministers of Christ, who dispense the divine mysteries. 1-4 Don't imagine us leaders to be something we aren't. We are servants of Christ, not his masters. We are guides into God's most sublime secrets, not security guards posted to protect them. The requirements for a good guide are reliability and accurate knowledge. It matters very little to me what you think of me, even less where I rank in popular opinion. I don't even rank myself. Comparisons in these matters are pointless. I'm not aware of anything that would disqualify me from being a good guide for you, but that doesn't mean much. The Master makes that judgment.

1 So, don't look at Apollos and me as anything more than cowboys who've been put in charge of teaching you the mystery of how to ride for God. 2 In this regard, it is required that managers be found faithful.(C1) 2 Moreouer, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithfull.

3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.3 But to me it is an insignificant matter that I would be examined by you, or by any human (F1)court; in fact, I do not even examine myself. 3 As for myself, I do not care if I am judged by you or by any human court. I do not even judge myself. 3 But as for me personally it matters very little to me that I may be judged by you or any human court on this point; in fact, I do not even judge myself.3 But to me it is a very small thing that I may be examined by you, or by any human (F1)court; in fact, I do not even examine myself.3 But to me it is a very small thing that I may be examined by you, or by any human (F1)court. In fact, I do not even examine myself.3 I care very little, however, if I am judged by you or by any human court. 3 But for me it is the very smallest matter that I be examined of you or of man's day. Nor do I even examine myself. 3 But I don't consider your judgment on this point to be worth anything. Even an opinion from a court of law would mean nothing. I don't even trust my own judgment.3 As touching me, I passe very litle to be iudged of you, or of mans iudgement: no, I iudge not mine owne selfe.3 But as for me, it is of little importance that I am judged by you or by any one else: because I do not judge myself. 3 Now, I am not at all concerned about being judged by you or by any human standard; I don't even pass judgment on myself. 3 But to me it is a very little matter that I be judged by you or by a human court,[a] but I do not even judge myself. 3 But to me it is a small thing that I should be judged by you, or by a man's day. But neither do I judge myself. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be [a]judged of you, or of man's [b]judgment: yea, I [c]judge not mine own self. 3 But it is a small thing to me that I am judged by you or by man's judging; I am not even a judge of myself.3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by man's judgment. Yes, I don't judge my own self. 3 It is a very small thing to me that I should be examined by you or by any human court. In fact, I don't even examine myself. 3 But to me it is a little thing to be Judged by you, or by any man; neither do I judge myself,3 But to me, it is a light matter to be judged of by you, or by any man whatever; nay, I am no judge of myself.3 With me it is but a very small thyng that I shoulde be iudged of you, either of mans iudgement: No, I iudge not mine owne selfe.3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by man's judgment. Yes, I don't judge my own self. 3 But it is a very small thing with me, to be judged by you or by any man's judgment; yea, I judge not myself.3 I however am very little concerned at undergoing your scrutiny, or that of other men; in fact I do not even scrutinize myself.3 And to me it is for the leest thing, that Y be demyd of you, or of mannus dai; but nether Y deme my silf.3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yes, I do not judge my own self.3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by man's judgment: yes, I judge not my own self. 3 So for me, it is a minor matter that I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. [fn] In fact, I do not even judge myself. 3 As for me, it matters very little how I might be evaluated by you or by any human authority. I don't even trust my own judgment on this point. 3 It is not the most important thing to me what you or any other people think of me. Even what I think of myself does not mean much. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. I do not even judge myself. 3 With me, however, it counteth for the very smallest thing, that, by you, I should be examined, or by a human day. Nay! I am not even examining myself,3 But to me it is a very small thing to be judged by you or by man’s day. But neither do I judge my own self.3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. I do not even judge myself.3 With me is it but a very smal thinge that I shuld be iudged of you ether of (mans daye) No I iudge not myn awne selfe.3 and to me it is for a very little thing that by you I may be judged, or by man's day, but not even myself do I judge,3 and to me it is for a very little thing that by you I may be judged, or by man's Day, but I do not even judge myself,3 It is but a small thinge vnto me, that I shulde be iudged of you, or of mans daye, nether iudge I myne awne selfe.3 as for me, it is a matter of no great concern that I should be called to account by you, or any human authority; not that I am my own judge; 3 But as for me, I don't give two shakes whether you like me or agree with what I do or say. I ain't gonna let you judge me. I won't even judge myself. 4 For I am not conscious of anything against myself, but I am not justified(C1) by this. It is the Lord who judges me. 4 For I know nothing by my selfe, yet am I not hereby iustified: but hee that iudgeth me is the Lord.

4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. 4 (b)For I am not aware of anything against myself, (c)but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me.4 For I (C1)am not aware of anything against myself; however I am not (C2)vindicated by this, but the one who examines me is the Lord. 4 I know of no wrong I have done, but this does not make me right before the Lord. The Lord is the One who judges me. 4 I (C1)am aware of nothing against myself and I feel blameless, but I am not by this (C2)acquitted before God. It is the Lord who judges me.4 For I (C1)am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this (C2)acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord.4 For I (C1)am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this (C2)acquitted. But the one who examines me is the Lord.4 My conscience is clear, but that does not vindicate me. It is the Lord who judges me. 4 I don't know of anything against me, but that doesn't prove that I am right. The Lord is my judge. 4 I am not aware of anything against me, but this does not make me innocent. The one who is evaluating me is the Lord.

4 For I am conscious of nothing in myself; but I am not justified by this: but he that examines me is the Lord. 4 I don't know of any wrong I have done, but that does not make me right. The Lord is the one who must decide if I have done well or not.4 For I know nothing by my selfe, yet am I not thereby iustified: but he that iudgeth me, is the Lord.4 For I know nothing of which I am guilty; yet I may not be right in this, for my judge is the LORD. 4 (a)My conscience is clear, but that does not prove that I am really innocent. The Lord is the one who passes judgment on me. 4 For I am conscious of nothing against myself, but not by this am I vindicated. But the one who judges me is the Lord. 4 For I know nothing of myself, but I have not been justified by this; but He judging me is the Lord. 4 For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that [d]judgeth me is the Lord. 4 For I am not conscious of any wrong in myself; but this does not make me clear, for it is the Lord who is my judge.4 For I know nothing against myself. Yet I am not justified by this, but he who judges me is the Lord. 4 For I am not conscious to myself of any thing, yet am I not hereby justified; but he that judgeth me is the Lord.4 Though I am not conscious of having been in any way unfaithful, yet I do not for that reason stand acquitted; but He whose scrutiny I must undergo is the Lord.4 For Y am no thing ouer trowynge to my silf, but not in this thing Y am iustified; for he that demeth me, is the Lord.4 For I know nothing against myself; yet I am not hereby justified: but he that judges me is the Lord.4 For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. 4 For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not acquitted because of this. The one who judges me is the Lord. 4 For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. 4 My conscience is clear, but that doesn't prove I'm right. It is the Lord himself who will examine me and decide. 4 As for me, my heart tells me I am not guilty of anything. But that does not prove I am free from guilt. It is the Lord Who looks into my life and says what is wrong. 4 I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. 4 For, of nothing, to myself, am I conscious: nevertheless, not hereby, am I declared righteous, but, he that doth examine me, is the Lord.4 For I am not conscious to myself of anything. Yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.4 I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me.4 I know nought by my selfe: yet am I not therby iustified. It is the Lorde that iudgeth me.4 for of nothing to myself have I been conscious, but not in this have I been declared right -- and he who is discerning me is the Lord:4 for I have been conscious of nothing for myself, but I have not been declared right in this—and He who is discerning me is the LORD:4 I knowe noughte by my selfe, yet am I not therby iustified. It is the LORDE that iudgeth me.4 (for though I am not conscious to my self of any unfaithfulness, yet am I not hereby absolved:) but he that is my supreme judge, is the Lord. 4 My conscience is clear. Now I ain't saying I'm perfect, but the One who will judge me is, and I trust him with my soul.

5 So don’t judge(C1) anything prematurely, before the Lord comes,(C2) who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.(C3)

5 Therefore iudge nothing before the time, vntill the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkenesse, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall euery man haue prayse of God.

5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. 5 Therefore (d)do not pronounce judgment before the time, (e)before the Lord comes, (f)who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. (g)Then each one will receive his commendation from God.5 Therefore (C1)do not go on (F1)passing judgment before (F2)the time, but wait (C2)until the Lord comes, who will both (C3)bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of human hearts; and then (C4)praise will come to each person from God.

5 So do not judge before the right time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light things that are now hidden in darkness, and will make known the secret purposes of people's hearts. Then God will praise each one of them.5 So (C1)do not go on passing judgment before the appointed time, but wait (C2)until the Lord comes, for He will both (C3)bring to light the secret things that are hidden in darkness and disclose the motives of the hearts. Then each one's (C4)praise will come from God.

5 Therefore (C1)do not go on (F1)passing judgment before (F2)the time, but wait (C2)until the Lord comes who will both (C3)bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's (C4)praise will come to him from God.

5 Therefore (C1)do not go on (F1)passing judgment before (F2)the time, but wait (C2)until the Lord comes who will both (C3)bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and make manifest the motives of hearts. And then each one's (C4)praise will come to him from God.

5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God. 5 So don't judge anyone until the Lord returns. He will show what is hidden in the dark and what is in everyone's heart. Then God will be the one who praises each of us. 5 So don't pronounce judgment prematurely, before the Lord comes; for he will bring to light what is now hidden in darkness; he will expose the motives of people's hearts; and then each will receive from God whatever praise he deserves.

5 So that do not judge anything before [the] time, until the Lord shall come, who shall also both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and shall make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then shall each have [his] praise from God. 5 So don't judge anyone now. The time for judging will be when the Lord comes. He will shine light on everything that is now hidden in darkness. He will make known the secret purposes of our hearts. Then the praise each person should get will come from God.5 Therefore iudge nothing before the time, vntill the Lorde come, who will lighten things that are hid in darkenesse, and make the counsels of the hearts manifest: and then shall euery man haue praise of God.5 Therefore do not judge before the time, until the LORD comes, and brings to light the hidden things of darkness, and reveals the thoughts of the hearts; then shall every man have praise from God. 5 So you should not pass judgment on anyone before the right time comes. Final judgment must wait until the Lord comes; he will bring to light the dark secrets and expose the hidden purposes of people's minds. And then all will receive from God the praise they deserve. 5 Therefore do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord should come, who will both enlighten the hidden things of darkness and will reveal the counsels of hearts, and then praise will come to each one from God.5 Then do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both shed light on the hidden things of darkness and will reveal the counsels of the hearts. And then praise will be to each one from God. 5 Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.5 For this reason let there be no judging before the time, till the Lord comes, who will make clear the secret things of the dark, and the designs of the heart; and then will every man have his praise from God.5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each man will get his praise from God. 5 Therefore, stop judging before the proper time, before the Lord comes, for he will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the motives of our hearts. Then each person will receive his praise from God.[xr] 5 Therefore, do not judge before the time, until the Lord come, who will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and reveal the thoughts of hearts. Then will there be praise to each man from Aloha.5 5 Therefore pronounce not judgments before the time, [fn] until the Lord come, who will pour light upon the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the thoughts of [fn] hearts: and then will each one have [fn] praise from God. 5 Therefore iudge nothyng before the tyme, vntyll the Lorde come, who wyl lyghten thynges that are hyd in darkenesse, & open the counsels of the heartes, and then shall euery man haue prayse of God. 5 Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each man will get his praise from God. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and manifest the counsels of the hearts. And then shall every one have praise from God.5 Therefore form no premature judgements, but wait until the Lord returns. He will both bring to light the secrets of darkness and will openly disclose the motives that have been in people's hearts; and then the praise which each man deserves will come to him from God.5 Therfor nyle ye deme bifore the tyme, til that the Lord come, which schal liytne the hyd thingis of derknessis, and schal schewe the counseils of hertis; and thanne preisyng schal be to ech man of God.5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord shall come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise from God. 5 So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognition from God.5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God.

5 So don't make judgments about anyone ahead of time—before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due. 5 Do not be quick to say who is right or wrong. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring into the light the things that are hidden in men's hearts. He will show why men have done these things. Every man will receive from God the thanks he should have. 5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive commendation from God.5 So then, not before the fitting time, be judging anything, - until the Lord shall come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and, then, the praise shall come to each one, from God.5 Therefore, judge not before the time: until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts. 5 So don't get ahead of the Master and jump to conclusions with your judgments before all the evidence is in. When he comes, he will bring out in the open and place in evidence all kinds of things we never even dreamed of—inner motives and purposes and prayers. Only then will any one of us get to hear the "Well done!" of God.

5 So don't go making judgments about yourselves or others. If there's breath left in either, there's time to make things right. The only judgment that matters will happen when the Lord rides back through the main gate. Like a light in a pitch-dark tack room, he will reveal our darkest secrets and our secret prayers. Then, if there's attaboys to be given, God will do the givin'.

The Apostles’ Example of Humility

6 Now, brothers and sisters,(C1) I have applied these things to myself and Apollos(C2) for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying: “Nothing beyond what is written.” The purpose is that none of you will be arrogant, favoring one person over another. 6 And these things, brethren, I haue in a figure transferred to my selfe, and to Apollo, for your sakes: that ye might learne in vs not to thinke of men, aboue that which is written, that no one of you bee puffed vp for one against another.

6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

6 I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers,[a] that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may (h)be puffed up in favor of one against another.

6 Now these things, brothers and sisters, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos on your account, so that in us you may learn not to exceed (C1)what is written, so that no one of you will (C2)become (F1)arrogant (C3)in behalf of one against the other.

6 Brothers and sisters, I have used Apollos and myself as examples so you could learn through us the meaning of the saying, "Follow only what is written in the Scriptures." Then you will not be more proud of one person than another.

6 Now I have applied these things that is, the analogies about factions to myself and Apollos for your benefit, believers, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond (C1)what is written in Scripture, so that none of you will (C2)become arrogant and boast (C3)in favor of one minister or teacher against the other.

6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to exceed (C1)what is written, so that no one of you will (C2)become (F1)arrogant (C3)in behalf of one against the other.

6 Now these things, brothers, I have applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to go beyond (C1)what is written, so that no one of you will (C2)become puffed up (C3)on behalf of one against the other.

Fools for Christ

6 Brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written. Then you will not take pride in one man over another.

6 Friends, I have used Apollos and myself as examples to teach you the meaning of the saying, "Follow the rules." I want you to stop saying that one of us is better than the other.

6 Now in what I have said here, brothers, I have used myself and Apollos as examples to teach you not to go beyond what the Tanakh says, proudly taking the side of one leader against another.

6 Now these things, brethren, I have transferred, in their application, to myself and Apollos, for your sakes, that ye may learn in us the [lesson of] not [letting your thoughts go] above what is written, that ye may not be puffed up one for [such a] one against another.
