Cross-References
But the two men staying with Lot opened the door, pulled him back inside the house, and then closed the door.
They struck those outside the door with blindness, so the men, both young and old, could not find the door.
He made fertile land salty, because the people there did evil.
But he saved Lot from those cities. Lot, a good man, was troubled because of the filthy lives of evil people.
Also remember the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and the other towns around them. In the same way they were full of sexual sin and people who desired sexual relations that God does not allow. They suffer the punishment of eternal fire, as an example for all to see.
Then it opened up the hole that leads to the bottomless pit, and smoke came up from the hole like smoke from a big furnace. Then the sun and sky became dark because of the smoke from the hole.
The kings of the earth who sinned sexually with her and shared her wealth will see the smoke from her burning. Then they will cry and be sad because of her death.
As they saw the smoke from her burning, they cried out loudly, "There was never a city like this great city!"
Again they said: "Hallelujah! She is burning, and her smoke will rise forever and ever."
But cowards, those who refuse to believe, who do evil things, who kill, who sin sexually, who do evil magic, who worship idols, and who tell lies—all these will have a place in the lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
Gill's Notes on the Bible
And Hebron,.... Hebron seems to be the same with Abdon,
Joshua 21:30; ר and ד being changed, of which there are other instances; and hereby this is distinguished from another Hebron in the tribe of Judah, more commonly known, Joshua 15:54;
and Rehob; in the time of Jerom s, there was a village called Rooba, four miles from Scythopolis, and which he says was a city separated to the Levites, as this was, or one of the same name in this tribe; for there was another, Joshua 19:30; see Joshua 21:31; but whether either of them is the same with this is not certain;
and Hammon; of this city we read nowhere else:
and Kanah; this Kanah is generally thought to be the same where Christ wrought his first miracle, John 2:1. Jerom expressly says u, there was a Cana in the tribe of Asher, where our Lord and Saviour turned water into wine, John 2:1, and from whence was Nathanael,
John 21:2; and it is at this day, adds he, a town in Galilee of the Gentiles. Phocas w places Cana between Sippori and Nazareth, which is now shown six Roman miles from Sippori to the west, a little inclining to the north; and there is also in the same tract Cephar Cana, four miles from Nazareth to the north, inclining to the east; and it is disputed which of these two is Cana of Galilee the New Testament: with this account agrees pretty much what our countryman Mr. Maundrell x gives of his travels in those parts:
"taking leave of Nazareth, (he says,) and going at first northward, we crossed the hills that encompassed the vale of Nazareth at that side; after which we turned to the westward, and passed in view of Cana of Galilee, the place signalized with the beginning of Christ's miracles, John 2:11; in an hour and a half more we came to Sepharia;''
or Sippori:
[even] unto great Zidon; of great Zidon, and why so called,

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
These verses refer to the northern portion of the territory of Asher, on the Phoenician frontier. Some names may have dropped out of the text, the number Joshua 19:30 not tallying with the catalogue. Ramah still retains its ancient name, and lies about twelve miles southeast of Tyre. Achzib is the modern “Zib,” on the coast, eight or nine miles north of Acre.
Clarke's Notes on the Bible
Verse 28. Unto great Zidon — The city of Sidon and the Sidonians are celebrated from the remotest antiquity. They are frequently mentioned by Homer. Joshua 11:8.
