1027) db (בד BD) AC: Separate CO: Alone AB: Destruction: The pictograph b is a representation of a tent. The d is a picture of the tent door. These two pictographs represent "the door of the tent". The father of the tent often sat alone at the door of the tent. Here he could receive shade from the sun, watch over his household and watch the road for approaching strangers. (see Genesis 18:1,2) (eng: bad - as being alone)

 בָּדָד noun [masculine] isolation, separation: Isaiah 27:10 עִיר בְּצוּרָה בָּדָד the fenced city is isolation, i.e. is solitary (substantive for adjective : Dr§ 189. 2); more usually as adverb accusative, to signify alone, Deuteronomy 32:12; especially with verbs of dwelling, Leviticus 13:46 בָּדָד יֵשֵׁב he shall dwell alone (literally in isolation), Jeremiah 15:17; Lamentations 1:1; Lamentations 3:28: figurative of freedom from attack, security Deuteronomy 33:28 (of Israel), Jeremiah 49:31 (Kedar); soלְבָדָד Numbers 23:9 (Israel) Micah 7:14; Psalm 4:9 for thou לְבָדָד לָבֶטַח תּוֺשִׁיבֵנִי makest me dwell solitarily, in safety (see Deuteronomy 33:28).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

בָּדָד m. separation i.q. בַּד No. I. Hence in Acc. adv. separately, Leviticus 13:46 solitarily, alone (commonly expressed in Latin by the adjective solus), Isaiah 27:10 עִיר בְּצוּרָה בָּדָד “the fortified city standeth alone,” i.e. is left forsaken. Deuteronomy 32:12, יְהֹוָה בָּדָד יַנְחֶנּוּ “Jehovah alone did lead him.” Also לְבָדָד solitarily, for alone.
