Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

אָרַח to walk, to go, as a finite verb, once Job 34:8. (Ch. אֲרַח id. To this answers the Gr. ἔρχομαι, and softened forms of the same stock are הָלַךְ, הוּךְ.) Part. אֹרֵחַ a traveller, Judges 19:17; 2 Samuel 12:4; Jeremiah 14:8. Pl. Jeremiah 9:1. Fem. אֹרְחָה collect. (see Lehrgeb. 477) a company, or band of travellers, especially of merchants, a caravan, συνοδία, Genesis 37:25; Isaiah 21:13. See אֹרַח, אֹרְחָה.

II. אָרַח to decree, to appoint, i.q. חָקַק, whence אֲרֻחָה i.q. חוֹק a statute. To this answers the Arab. أَرَخَ to appoint a time, whence أَرْخَةُ appointed time, an era, an epoch; أَرَّخَ to date a letter; تَأْرِيخُ chronicle, annals. Perhaps it is kindred to the root עָרַךְ which see.

אָרַח (perhaps for אָרֵחַ “wandering”), [Arah], pr.n.m.

(1)  Ezra 2:5; Nehemiah 7:10.

(2)  1 Chronicles 7:39.
