אֶצְבַּע f., with suff. אֶצְבָּעִי; pl. אֶצְבָּעוֹת (for צְבַע, with Aleph prosthetic).
(1) a finger, Exodus 31:18 specially the fore-finger, which is used in dipping into anything (from the root צָבַע); Leviticus 4:6 seq.; 14:16 Exodus 8:15, אֶצְבַּע אֱלֹהִים הוּא “this is the finger of God,” i.e. this is done by the power of God himself; pl. fingers for the hand, Psalms 8:4, 144:1. As a measure across the fingers, Jeremiah 52:21.
