Pi`el cut up, cut in pieces, divide by joints (Dr1811,7; Late Hebrew id., Pi`el; rare); —
Pi`el Perfect נִתַּח Leviticus 8:20, וְנִתַּח consecutive Leviticus 1:6,12; Imperfect 3 masculine singular וַיְנַתַּח 1 Kings 18:33, suffix וַיְנַתְּחֵ֫הוּ 1 Samuel 11:7, וַיְנַתְּחֶ֫הָ Judges 19:29, etc.; — cut up, in pieces, with accusative of animals 1 Samuel 11:7, of woman Judges 20:6 (all these to be sent about as token for assembling warriors; on significance of the practice compare RS Sem i. 383; 2nd ed. 402); elsewhere usually + לִנְתָחִים, cut up into pieces, of woman Judges 19:29; of sacrificial animals 1 Kings 18:23,33 (accusative only), Exodus 29:17; Leviticus 1:6,12; Leviticus 8:20 (all P).
נָתַח only in Piel נִתַּח to cut into pieces (an animal which had been slain), Exodus 29:17 Levit. 1:6, 12 8:20 the corpse of a person, Judges 20:6. Hence
