Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

מָצַץ

(1)  to suck, to suck out, i.q. מָצָה and מָזָה Arab. مَصَّ and Chald. מָצַץ id.; all of which imitate the sound like the Gr. μύζω, μυζάω, μάζος. Hence to draw out with pleasure, to taste, Isaiah 66:11 compare יָנַק verse 12 Isaiah 66:12. Those things which are sweet and pleasant to the taste are often sucked. Hence

(2) to be sweet, whence מַצָּה sweet, i.e. unfermented bread; compare מַתַק which also has both of these significations.

[“מֻצֶקֶת fem. casting, pouring, with aff., 2 Chronicles 4:3.”]
