To gain entrance to the tent or to leave, the curtain moved back and forth. Also, the door is used for moving back and forth from the tent to the outside. The c is a representation of a foot. The combined meaning of these two letters is "the back and forth moving of the foot (תאל tail) ". The tail of a fish moves back and forth to propel itself through the water. The darting around of fish. (eng: dog - as a waging tail)

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

דָּאג i.q. דָּנ a fish, Nehemiah 13:16. As Kametz in this word (signifying a fish and not a fisherman) is pure (from דָּנָה), the letter א which is omitted in very many MSS. (as the Masora observes) is a redundant mater lectionis, as in מְלָאכִים 2 Samuel 11:1.
