גְּשׁוּרִי Geshurite, Gent. n.
(1) of a people living at the foot of Hermon, near Maachah, to the north of Bashan and Argob, inclosed within the boundaries of the Holy Land, but not subject to the dominion of the Hebrews, Deuteronomy 3:14; Joshua 12:5, 13:13 1 Chronicles 2:23 compare גְּשׁוּר. A bridge is now found in that region (Jisr beni Yakûb), where the Jordan is crossed.
