[גַּלְגַּל] see גלל. below
גִּיר an unused root. Arab. جَارَ Med. Ye appears to have signified to be hot, to boil up; whence جَاِيءرُ heat of the breast from anger, hunger, thirst. To this answers gähren, in other dialects gohren, giehren. Hence
גִּיר , גִּר m. lime, so called from its effervescing when slacked, Isaiah 27:9. Arab. جيْرُ and جَيَّارُ quick-lime.
גִּיר Ch. emphat. גִּירָא id. Daniel 5:5 compare Isaiah 27:9; Amos 2:1, Targ.
