For the meaning ";palisade,"; as in Luk. 19:48, cf. BGU III. 830.5 (i/A.D.) συμβαλὼν χάρ [ακα ] περὶ τοῦ ε ̣̓[λαιῶν ]ος : and see Syll.3 363.1 (B.C. 297) οἱ ] ἐν τῶι χάρακι, where the reference is to a fortified camp. The word has its earlier meaning of ";stake,"; ";vine-prop"; in PSI IV. 393.6 (B.C. 242–1) χάρακος καλαμίνου μυριάδες τρεῖς, BGU IV. 1122.17 (B.C. 13) τὸ φυτὸν καὶ χάρακας καὶ φλοῦν.
